I'm almost positive he got Covid immunoglobulin (similar to rabies immunoglobulin). - basically it is active antiboties extracted from blood samples, which were srwan from people who were infected by covid, recovered, and developped a strong enough immune response. There would be a very limited amount of this agent available, so it would not surprise me if this was already a contingency plan put in place should he become infected.

Individuals are poo poo at assessing risk tolerance. Its easier to have an ordinance that says "don't try to rules lawyer your loving way out of this just wear a mask always".

Rather than the current poo poo show of.

Yes you should wear a mask indoors, maybe 2, also the risk outside is low, but you don't know if your trip out side is going to bring you in close contact with people so take a mask, but you don't REALLY have to wear it outside.

And Sass if you are reading this it was never "oh its killing old people a huge rate" the conversation was always "we have to make sure the hospitals don't fill up with people needing very specific invasive and intensive forms of life saving medical attention".

However it was useless for me as we know when and where he got it from and it was after i had seen him

Outdoors masking is varying levels of overkill but at least having one with you should be mandatory. Lining up outdoors? Mask. Jogging or out for a walk? Just maintain some distance, wind currents do the rest lol

Just be realistic, if you get it it will likely come from someone at Costco checking out who pulled their mask down to sneeze.

Its also fun that so many people think "death" is the only possible negative outcome from covid. Like they think you either die, or fully recover and are back at work two weeks later.

Just casually sweep aside the thousands of people with permanent damage to their bodies, because their experiences don't matter. Who cares that people who got sick over a year ago still haven't fully recovered all of their mental faculties yet, and possibly never will?

Yeah. Got a friend in the states who had COVID and now has permanent lung damage. Doctors can’t be certain what the long term impacts of that will be on his health. But it’s safe to say losing a bunch of lung capacity ain’t great!

One of my wifes cousins got covid a few days before her due date and had to have an emergency c section without anesthetic and went into cardiac arrest during the procedure and almost died along with her baby but managed to pull through.

When people don't take this pandemic seriously it makes me extremely angry.

Yeah, this was kind of my point. I wasn't saying that COVID isn't a big deal (entirely the opposite), just that people suck at thinking outside of an individual level, and 1-5% (and 10% of long-term complications of some sort) means odds are if they know someone who had COVID the most likely outcome is they're fine now.

That doesn't make COVID not a giant deal, but I think a lot of people go one of two ways - either assume that 1-5% of hospitalization is not a big deal because it's low odds on an individual level, and hence COVID isn't a big deal and is overhyped, or catastrophize and assume that getting COVID is a guaranteed death sentence.

Being realistic about the severity doesn't mean you're not taking it seriously. It's more than serious enough even if "only" 10% of people have long term consequences (and a smaller amount die).

Re: Trump, I totally agree his odds weren't good once he was hospitalized. But people were doing the "he's for sure a goner thing" the second he got it, at which point it was still not a super likely outcome.

People also often completely overlook the knock-on effects from a highly-transmissible disease that hospitalizes 1-5% of people who get it. Like hey cool deaths are relatively low but all of a sudden every ICU bed is full of a Covid patient, better hope you don't get in a car accident or fall off a stepladder or get diagnosed with cancer, because there are no ambulances to take you to the hospital because they are all currently transporting patients out of Toronto because every hospital in Toronto is full of Covid patients!

Not calling for more police crackdowns or anything, but can we at least have the fire department swing by and hose down these crowds? Don’t even have to blast them head on, just recreate a bad rainstorm until it’s just a handful of truly committed showing up. As long as we’re taping off playgrounds, shutting down churches and fining people for travelling within a province it seems strange to turn a blind eye to 50-100 unmasked people gathering in crowds on the regular.

I don't give a poo poo about Johnston and his friends, but they're going to expose a huge number of service workers. Masks help but they don't save your from getting sick when a guy with covid coughs in your face - especially the cloth masks that so many people are wearing.

I'd like to look at that survey, but the link he posted doesn't actually link to the source. That a huge margin of democrats seemingly believe there's a over a 50% chance someone with covid is going to be hospitalized tells me theres something funny going on there.

trump subsists solely on fast food and loathes exercise as he thinks it will use up his lifetime's finite supply of move points, and when he runs out he dies
