Outdoor masks in a rural area or out for a walk in a suburb, probably not necessary but keep one in your pocket. Outdoor masks in a city or anywhere you're likely to pass someone on the sidewalk or end up within 6 feet, keep that poo poo on. It's not that hard.

It’s really not but also idk if it’s just because my city is relatively one of the less serious outbreaks but when I walk the dog it’s well over half the people I run into either don’t bother or even more humorously will fumble to put on the mask as they approach you if they can’t swing out into the street or whatever Outdoor mask use isn’t very normalized at all

Outdoor masks in NYC are normal walking around, people take them off if they're picnicking in the park or running. There's a lot of exceptions, though, and it really varies by neighborhood.

my broader point is that Tucker is not actually taking an extremist position if we already grant that there are perfectly acceptable cases for people say that you shouldn't be wearing masks outdoors to begin with the liberals just want that opinion to be supported by science instead of fueled by right-wing contrarianism instead, so that their harassment is backed by polite society and the state

the main thing was "call the cops on people for having their children wear masks" which is probably going to result in some deaths

I don't think there's any case where it's appropriate to go after folks for putting masks on their kids while outdoors. Especially if you, as a stranger, are close enough to witness the situation and call the cops on them.

I keep a mask in my back pocket when I walk my dog. I think to like being maskless acts as a social deterrent because I'm out here to walk my dog not to talk to my neighbors

I wondered if ha'porth was Klingon or something, but it's apparently short for "halfpenny's worth". Anyone who uses that word can be safely ignored.

Incredible.

there certainly is something to be said of "consent" when there is a power disparity between the two participants, for example an aid worker and a local aid recipient, or monica lewinsky and bill clinton, because in either of those cases there is always an implicit threat lurking because one party has some much control over the fate of the other. not sure if "enthusiasm" would really fix the issue tho

I thought this is why people usually say "enthusiastic consent"? No one advocating consent is going to be saying it's ok to plow full speed ahead with a partner who is just like "I guess maybe?"

I think what he's trying to get at is a scenario where someone says "I consent" but due to explicit or implicit pressure but doesn't actually mean it. Which isn't consent. e: yeah what everyone else said

I guess it depends on whether he's talking about your friends or your professional peers. It's like how they say that it's better to be the dumbest person in a room of smart people than the smartest person in a room of dumb people. Now me, I split the difference and hangout in C-Spam, I'll leave the interpretation to you.
