We're normal now.
We love your family.
The funniest parts of the LRH Dead Authors episodes are just reading the actual things LRH wrote. Despite being one of the best improvisers out there, even Andy Daly can't top the sheer absurdity and lunacy of how the man wrote lengthy self-affirmations about how women are definitely satisfied with his lovemaking (and, if they aren't, it's their fault) and repeatedly had to tell himself "You are not afraid of snakes; there are no snakes under your bed."

I don't think I've heard any of this, but I loved the LRH episode of Andy Daly's pilot podcast project podcast pilot so I'll have to check it out. The phrase "i'm up to eight cums a night" has been in my head ever since I heard it

The Virginia Woolf episode with Mary Holland is an all time classic.

Also one of the final episodes with PFT as Mark Twain is absolutely hilarious.

Matt Gourley as Ian Fleming is pretty great too. And Ben Schwartz discovering some things he never knew about Roald Dahl is a classic.

Lord knows PFT is overcommitted enough as is, but drat if Dead Authors isn't one of my favorite efforts. Scott Aukerman's on a few too, and iirc does absolutely no research into the people he's portraying, to great effect.

Mantzoukas was pretty loose as Plato but that was part of the charm.

This isn't the Scott I know!

(I actually kinda felt a little sorry for London Hughes where Scott did his usual 'I didnt watch your special' thing, just because for about 3 weeks after every guest he had on he said he watched their project and loved it)

James Adomian's Nietzche is also one of the best.

Hold that pose.
I've gotta get something.
The one person I remember being a genuine fan of the author they were portraying was Ben Schwartz, who had his heart broken live on stage.

I know he'll probably never come back, but whenever I see one of CBB's specials with a bunch of guests, I always hope for a return of Zeke's Peter Griffin.

I have to say, I don't think The Griz was one of PFT's best characters, but the ending of the episode with Charlotte Hornette was great. Ego Nwodim really put in a good turn there. Also a good short appearance by Intern Gino Lombardo.

A country where you can always get richer.
Will Hines is extremely steam-rollable, and JB Smoove is really interested in robots. Also, after many months of getting no ads whatsoever, they have sadly paired up w/ someone to insert ads targeted at the UK-based podcast listener.

Yeah that's been happening a lot. Is the market for podcast ads drying up, or are they just massively loving up/don't give a poo poo about anything that isn't Conan anymore? Even if there aren't as many junk boxes advertising at the moment or whatever, they could advertise for other podcasts or something. Not that I mind skipping ads, but it doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in the company.

Like a month or so ago there was an interview with the Offbook hosts and they said pretty much that. That the current higher ups cared way more about prestige stuff with famous people than the alt comedy stuff the network was built on.

it's weird too because other relatively new podcasts (e.g.: tom scharpling and julie klausner's) clearly have no problem at all getting tons of ads
