We say that now but it's just a matter of time before it happens to be Lin or jimmy buffet Jean truly was excellent, though.

Lin and Jimmy teamed up to trick them into doing the red carpet episode. So maybe we could get lucky again and get another S-rank episode from their involvement.

Yup, and I really appreciated Travis' extremely light mocking of Griffin in ep 420 about how he'll finally need to come up with a bit of his own with Yahoo! answers going away.

Tapping back into TAZ now that Grads done, what is that quiet zone game they mentioned in TTAZZ?

VaultAggie posted:Tapping back into TAZ now that Grads done, what is that quiet zone game they mentioned in TTAZZ? It's a game by Avery Alder, creator of Monsterhearts, where the players do collaborative world-building around the idea that they're describing a community (or a world) that's rebuilding after a major disaster. Can find it here. Haven't played it myself but I've played a lot of her other work and she's a great designer.

The Quiet Year rules. I've played it about 4 times, and it's just a fun way to pass an afternoon with some buds creatively.

It sounds like they really want to get back to goofy goofs instead of the epic story from the get and I'm about it. Letting a story emerge organically like Balance did.

people spend a lot of energy trying to poo poo on the people who mean well lol a good chunk is obviously people trying to make a thing better but now they've just attracted a lot of folks who really don't honestly give a poo poo about anything but can smell 'acceptable targets' a mile away like yo, they're gonna mention avery. obviously and if they didn't it still wouldn't have harmed her work, it just wouldn't have been quite what the creator deserved barring some insane world they didn't get to it y'know? It's good to! Absolutely, and I think if you're making a product off of this you're obliged to but still. It's almost a shame Friends At The Table is so good because it's very easy to compare any other work to it and compile a list of sins. We know what good roleplaying podcasts CAN be in terms of doing things the right way it's just a shame this is the mechanism people think is the way to get it.

Even tiny podcasts will have plenty of people act like that over tiny, inconsequential mistakes (and god help you if you make a tiny factual mistake while cracking a throwaway joke) so I can only imagine that it's impossible to count for a big name podcast.

It is wild listening to TTAZZ while having dropped graduation before Mission Imp Hospital. They're discussing things that sound like fake events for a joke because I never listened to that episode. Having listened to so many bits where they bullshit something as being real when the joke is that it isn't and would be ridiculous, hearing things like "a lot of influence came from the death of the firbolg's father is loving wild

And yea this is the first TTAZZ I've listened to since and I appreciate how open Travis is accepting a lot of it didn't work but man I cant imagine how difficult it is to run a campaign when not only are you fairly new to it, but you have to contend with assholes on social media as well as the pressure of trying to match the quality of a previous thing that was universally loved. Anyway this podcast has made me respect Travis a lot more. I wasn't a fan of his run but I think there were a lot of good ideas there that maybe just didn't fit the format well or needed a more experienced DM and he graciously accepts that. I also appreciate Griffin saying they need to get back to a more organic, less long form big picture narrative focused podcast where they're just having fun playing DnD, that's where they shine.

an enterprise of their size could do with consultation. a lot of stuff is just improv and that's cool, but you got planned characters of representation you don't have a good grasp on? why NOT consult someone who knows their poo poo on it. is it warranted? well I'm not aggrieved so it doesn't really matter what I think.

a friend of mine spent some time in a monastery. (he was fleeing criminal charges, but eventually returned and got sentenced to house arrest, except at the monastery. monastery arrest.) at the time, the monks kept egg chickens. said chickens were free-range and treated well and fed good food. nonetheless, PETA protested the operation so loudly and constantly that the monks shut down all egg production, leaving their former customers to buy grocery-store eggs from the giant corporate egg farmers who treat their chickens like poo poo. anyway, that's what I think about Twitter.

Apparently there's beef with the firbolg because he's apparently influenced by native Americans? I never really got that at all. Doesn't that sort of cover any creature at one with nature so all druids etc would need a native consultant? Also there was a disabled character and that was handled poorly? Definetly feels like a lovely situation if you're trying to have a lot of diverse characters in your fictional podcast.

I bet the boys could probably afford to have a guest or 2 on for every arc if they're really concerned about diversity and representation. They all have connections enough at this point that they could probably find someone pretty easily each rotation.

^ well diversity in guests is different altogether. Apparently the beef with the wheelchair character was that they awkwardly banged their wheelchair into something. And also according to someone in that thread (who is pro consultant) just having someone happen to be disabled isn't good enough and that unless the disability serves a purpose then they say don't include them at all. Like so does the fact they're diverse need to always be a plot point and constantly pointed out and built on? Shouldn't we be at a point where actually the fact that someone is black or disabled etc is just casually mentioned as part of a brief descriptor and the story moves on as normal and it's handled that way? Don't get me wrong I see the need for consultants when you DO want to make the person's diversity a key part of your show or go into their heritage and explore the culture etc. Just Chamber fucked around with this message at 20:44 on Apr 29, 2021 |
