It's why I said earlier slapping one onto an everquest clone was a weird choice.

I am getting it to try out Octopath, it even includes ea play drat thats a great deal. I had EA play just to play battlefield from time to time. Don't know off the top of my head what other RPGs are on the PC platform of game pass since my PC is so bad that it genuinely struggles maintaining Doom at 35 fps but there should be several others to check out in case octopath isn't your thing. Like the version of Nier Automata that doesn't require mods to work right. babypolis posted:I would not say that octopath has bad writing per se. the game is genuinely well written in lots of parts. all the main characters are interesting and have a distinctive voice. also I liked that there was actually a point to talking to every npc. main criticisms i would level at the writing itself is that all the characters have one cliche phrase they like to say over and over, that some of the stories are pretty unexciting compared to the rest, and that side quests are pretty boring for the most part. also every plot twist is telegraphed to the point where it becomes frustrating "oh this guy is obviously going to betray me some time in the next chapter, time to go through the motions of working with him anyway until then" is a thing that happens like 3 separate times
