They make kits for getting baby feet and hand imprints, it's generally a softer substance than air dry clay and you might have better results.

Also take more pictures than you think you'll want while you can.

Thanks for the tips, I got a baby imprint inkpad but I also got a lump of air dry clay anyway cause the art shop had it so why not.

And yeah, will definitely take more photos!

Maybe small planters with bushes to give a sense of scale?

A quartering color scheme on a 10mm figure nbd. No, that’s super cool. I was having a hell of a time doing decent quartering on my 28mm state troops.

I've decided that GSW Glow Pigments are poo poo. Or, more likely, that I'm not good at using them.

I'm painting Necrons, so I tried some easy green OSL with my airbrush for the first time on the guns (as we do). That worked well enough. But my son wanted them to be glowing in the dark so he can look at them when he goes to sleep (yeah he likes that sort of stuff) so I got some pigments that actually glow in the dark. The instructions say to mix them with whatever - ink, medium, water. I went with a matt medium I had lying around. I thinned them down to proper consistency but they still tend to ... not flow very well? It kind of hosed the OSL up so I went to do it all over again. This time I mixed the pigments with the ink for the OSL.

But I found it basically impossible to not clog the .3mm airbrush. I mixed it really, really good but they still tend to "coagulate" together. If you thin down more the solution becomes very, very liquid and it's very hard not to get spidering, even at 5 PSI with a very low paint flow. I guess I could do 15 layers but.. ugh.

I'll try it again I think, but maybe do more of a pin wash. It'll take a lot of layers because the pigments don't glow that much, you need a LOT of them to get a really good effect.

If anyone has a good trick for them I'm all ears!

Well they don't mention it explicitly, now that you mention it, but the particles are very, very small (much smaller than the usual pigments I'd say). I think the problem is that they tend to kind of stick together and make lumps - which is also a problem using a regular brush (but I guess then you can keep mixing them some more).

I've used colorshift pigments in my airbrush, and the trick was to thin it to nearly invisible and use multiple coats.

Maybe try something like that?

Will do. I haven't tried to "nearly invisible" so that might be it. I think I'll switch paint to the regular brush for this, it might be tricky with the airbrush (the garage where I paint isn't as well lit as I'd like).

This was from a month back or so but I'm really pleased with my result here. I think this is the first figure I've painted that I feel some pride for. Of course I aim to continue improving.

There will always be a stray hair or dust particle that is completely invisible, until the very last moment you upload the photo for others to see.

What you're looking for are Nylon Jaw Jewelers Pliers, you should be able to get them at any craft store or amazon for around :10bux:.

So made this redemptor dread for a tournament this weekend. This is the first time I hustled up a paint job for a tournament, and I know it won't be the last. Also, Vallejo Metal Color is absolutely the best metal paints you can get. Seriously, just so much better than anything else I've tried.

Volupus Pink + Gryph-Hound Orange mixed with gloss varnish on a small piece of string. For the 'globs' you want to do multiple passes to build up thickness

I think they look great, but if I had to pick nits, the lighter brown pegasus reads a tiny bit flat.
