The equivalent of that in crypto is usdt (tether) and I always think... well what if this is as much as a house of cards as crypto as a whole and even that collapses one day? I wish somebody who knew more about it could tell me one way or the other if stable coins are necessarily foolproof. Obviously they aren't actual U.S. dollars

?????

that is just a derivative investment that strives to maintain a perfect 0.00% rate of return. its itchy & scratchy land money. its money, but fun

why do i want to exchange dollars for a perfect 1:1 ratio dollar backed derivative? i would just keep the dollar. there isnt even the idea that its an investment, its just banking but dumber and the bank takes money and gives you chuck e. cheese prize tickets

usdt is the short term way i keep my poo poo from moving up and down when playing with my ridiculous amount of funny money. 1:1 is the point

i plan to cash out my poo poo eventually. i'm more wondering if usdt can remain stable forever or if there is any way that even it can fail. like if the entirety of crypto melted down tomorrow would stablecoins go along with it is my curiosity

i'm also lazy and converting my fiat into dogelonsafecumshit takes as many steps as the reverse whereas pancake swap is just, dogshit->bnb coins (now worth $600+ each!)->usdt so as long as tens of millions of loser nerds believe in the gift cards...

is tether the one where their Twitter account regularly announces they found $500 million to pump into their exchange to keep it 1 to 1 with USD?

I was gonna buy doge but it was convoluted and hard to do and also really shady, and it was Saturday afternoon so I would be late to whatever party Musk was gonna gin up anyway.

Good thing I was high and lazy because everything probably would have cleared just in time for me to buy in at the peak and eat poo poo.

cumshitter strayed from the light of moloch, who is ever changing and growing in number and form

number demands blood, young and old, fiat and ephemeral, number grows unknowable in the dark spaces where the corpse ooze of eons of death is converted into the heat and light of new numbers

lmao https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1392602041025843203

I'm pretty sure elon just tanked the entire crypto market, minus maybe ethereum. And vitalik of ETH fame sold shib en masse to donate to India

People in crypto discords are saying that this is the bottom and to "buy when others are nervous" but I call bullshit, because BTC did a sudden 6% drop and still looks really loving bad. I'm liquidating my five figures of poo poo (into usdt) until I think the bottom actually hits

I should have sold yesterday when I peaked even higher but I'm very, very happy with how much I made

value can not be created or destroyed. think of it as a time to buy

the market only has two modes:

Good: prices are down, time to buy

Better: better buy before its too late

we are in a time to buy market

the movements upwards and downwards will get even more violent from here on so it'll probably become way easier to both gain and lose money. shitcoins already have that built in basically. just don't longterm hold too much and get in on the pumping and dumping
