The thread about it on Freep was already full of "The FBI is full of liberal Democrats who hate Christians so the accusations are probably fake" and claims that it's "really easy to 'find' child porn on someone's computer." There's definitely going to be people who think he was framed and that the evil Marxist socialist atheist Biden is arresting this poor man just because he believes in Jesus, but like I said you're never going to see that kind of defense from anyone remotely close to mainstream. Especially with the word out about what the stuff actually was, Fox News definitely isn't going to touch it, they might (but probably won't) do a "Well we're all sinners and hopefully he will repent and find forgiveness from God" but like you said, the Duggars aren't worth defending anymore.

But if the 2016 election taught us anything, it's actually good and a win-win scenario, because it gives the inmates a valuable opportunity to get "work experience" that they aren't allowed to reference to get a job in the real world, and the officials can use the inmates to do dilettante phrenology studies.

Speaking of, I recommend Knowledge Fight, the infowars criticism podcast. By and large it's just the right amount of Alex for me with enough commentary that the rhetorical analysis is sometimes as much fun as hearing the most batshit highlights. Picked it up at their Jan6 episode, it just got a NYT article. Now that they're at 555 episodes, they have a lot of history with him so some it is check backs at what Alex sounded like 10-15 years ago, how the grift has changed, and how the holy war against the demon Chicom globalists is going.

My take on it (through Knowledge Fight, they’re my in-between to his madness) is that he is jealous of Q’s popularity. But Q is also too esoteric for him to truly control or monetize. Alex Jones doesn’t really talk about vague villains and heroes with no faces. It’s Trump, or Jesus, or God, vs. Bill Gates, China, Satan, etc.

An interesting point KF pointed out a while ago is that Jones’ insistence on him not advocating exactly the sort of things that January 6th was is very obviously bullshit because his rhetoric is very much “THIS IS THE END GAME THEY WILL LITERALLY KILL US ALL WITHIN THE MONTH THIS IS HAPPENING THEY ARE COMING FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY” over and over again. If you’re a listener, and you take him as being sincere and serious, then taking violent action against the state makes perfect sense.

The fact that he himself is only in it to sell nutrients to doomsday preppers doesn’t really excuse any of his messaging, when the people on the other side of his broadcast are sharpening knives while mapping out the best way to attack the closest Planned Parenthood. It’s vile.

Alex Jones is an anti-authoritarian reactionary whose entire grift revolves around convincing his audience that the people in charge of the government are monsters and that their secret plan to kill you is right around the corner and also would you like to buy vitamin supplements and storable food and gold. To an extent I think he recognizes his grift; there are scattered reports that he voted for both Obama and Hillary because his rhetoric has to shift if a person he likes is actually in the White House.

Oh yeah, he's a stochastic terrorism propagandist for sure, and that's at odds with Q's "wait and see because everything's going to be fine" approach. This is why your average Evangelical is an anti-masker who flirts with anti-vax propaganda. They're so obsessed with being at the center of a persecution narrative that things like loving your neighbor or helping the poor are kinda lost in the shuffle. No, the important thing is that someone, preferably with authority, is telling you to do something... And then you don't do it! So when the government tells you to do anything, you gotta resist it! It's what Christianity is all about!

Their take-away from the Gospel of Jesus Christ is "gently caress you I won't do what you tell me", which, while potentially cool, is ruined by the fact that they're also terrible people who want minorities to go away.

It's also how they convince themselves that they're good Christians.

18 “If the world hates you, be aware that it hated me before it hated you. 19 If you belonged to the world, the world would love you as its own. Because you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world—therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you, ‘Servants are not greater than their master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you; if they kept my word, they will keep yours also. 21 But they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me. - John 15:18-21

They need to believe that liberals/leftists/the Democrats hate them because "If those people hate us then that means that we're good Christians just like Jesus said!" Since they live in a country where Christianity is the majority and they're free to worship as they please, they have to turn things as tiny as "Starbucks cups say Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas" into persecution, because Jesus said they would be persecuted and hated by the world.

Crunch Buttsteak posted:

So when the government tells you to do anything, you gotta resist it! It's what Christianity is all about!

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities; for there is no authority except from God, and those authorities that exist have been instituted by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists authority resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Do you wish to have no fear of the authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive its approval; 4 for it is God’s servant for your good. But if you do what is wrong, you should be afraid, for the authority does not bear the sword in vain! It is the servant of God to execute wrath on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore one must be subject, not only because of wrath but also because of conscience. 6 For the same reason you also pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, busy with this very thing. 7 Pay to all what is due them—taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due. - Romans 13:1-7

There's a lot that could be said about this passage (I don't think Paul was trying to say "Always obey oppressive governments!") but it's funny that there is a verse that specifically says "Listen to authority and pay your taxes."
