The only thing that Marvel movies have really demonstrably ruined is dialogue in TV/film. I'm so sick of terrible Tony Stark-style punchup lines being in everything, now.

A guy in the DnD group I DM for described Whedon dialogue as "that one line from every mid-90s action movie they would use for the trailer, except it's written to be every single line of dialogue." You just don't have to watch them, a lot of people don't. Like for something "gaining absolute dominance over the industry" I've managed to watch probably a whole two modern marvel movies and they were the most divorced from the overall thing at that. (Guardians of the Galaxy 1/2)
