Why do you think they're both stupidly risky leveraged and named like 70s hair metal bands? Because coke addled wall street quants came up with the most dumb and risky bets that maximize theoretical profit if you're willing to take on stupid amounts of risk.

Maybe it's because my mindset of options is already gambling and not investing, but you generally set the wings (buys) of the condor to be one or two hops off your sold puts and calls and your risk is minimized.

Tastytrade has a pretty nice tool for playing around with fake money and the iron strategies which you should definitely do first

If you do super wide Iron Condors and Iron Butterflies then that is a ton of risk but at least it has a know maximum risk. Let’s talk about trading the naked versions, straddle and strangle for max coked to the tits loss porn.

Calls at 9:30 are almost always a mistake and extremely overpriced please let the pricing settle. Check the bid / ask spread. I generally tell people unless you are really confident it's about to rocket up wait until 10:00 to buy options. This will save you money overall but yes sometimes you will miss the optimal entry which was 9:30 on the dot. Do not worry about being perfect, worry about your average.

I'm not sure what's dumber, that I could sell AMC for something like a 300% profit or that I'm thinking about not because it might go higher.

Also on a non-meme note AHT at 2.00 was a great buy.

I don't see how it doesn't go up at this point. The WSB crowd have been reinvigorated by this week's action and will almost certainly be completely frenzied by it once again.

That’s sort of what I’m thinking. There’s no reason it should be 25 but there’s no reason it should be 18 either so what the hell let it ride.

Melvin Capital, one of if not the biggest known GME short seller, was bailed out with $2.75 billion by Citadel immediately after GME popped.

I can't imagine how hedgefunds couldn't have gotten out of it (by 'it' I mean GME squeezing to $1m/share or whatever like they think will happen) by now, it's been going on for months. And if there's one true thing out of all the craziness, it's that they don't play by the same rules as the rest of us

Or they just have a deal with whoever to hold the short long-term until all the momentum runs out. All the memes WILL crash at some point.

Most of the reddit people never fully understood what open short interest was exactly or how short squeezes affect big hedge funds differently from individual investors. The first big push up of GME's price caught one fund by surprise and cost them a pile of money, and after that, most of the people losing money on GME were the reddit/robinhood bag-holders, as the price was actively controlled and manipulated by the very funds they thought they were pwning.

It's like they think hedge fund managers can't read reddit.
