PS4 dualshocks and Switch Joycons suffer from drift. That's the only real problems with controllers these days. The rest are just aesthetics.

I can use both xbox and playstation controllers just fine, the position of the stick doesn't seem that important. I mean modern shooters on console have that auto aim feature built in anyways so it's not like it really matters lol

I got the 8bitdo pro 2 controller to use with my pc and it seems pretty good I was previously using an xbone controller before it started getting some stick drift on the right thumbstick. The 8bitdo has playstation-style thumbstick positioning but I don't really notice the difference vs the xbox style... both basically feel the same to use after 2 minutes of holding the controller. It has a nicer dpad though, and when it's set to xinput mode it Just Works(tm) like an xbox controller does without needing to faff about with special software.

They didn't have a little doo-dad to stick in the middle though, so they just put a giant logo on the biggest controller and closures it a day.

It’s for the actual paddles, the Wolverine controllers do regular buttons on the back, though it’s two on the back and two up by the bumpers. They’re a way better place to put L3/R3 type stuff though.

The ATB system used in Final Fantasy IV to IX just sucks. The only games it worked well in are Chrono Trigger, FFX-2 and I guess World of FF. In CT you can wait for multiple characters to fill their ATB gauges to use dual or triple techs, and you can wait for enemies to move into a position where a tech can hit more of them. There’s actually a benefit to not immediately selecting an action. ATB is also responsible for people just selecting attack instead of using any sort of strategy because if you don’t act immediately you’re just letting the enemy attack you. In X-2 it’s actually possible for multiple things to happen simultaneously, so you’re not just queuing up actions to happen one after the other. I think you can even kill enemies during their attack animation and avoid taking damage. In WoFF you can just have time pause during your characters’ turns and just have it play like FFX’s turn based system.
