If you enjoyed factorio, you will almost certainly enjoy DSP.

I love Factorio and I absolutely hate DSP. It might be a decent game some day, but right now it's insanely tedious. Cannot recommend. Imagine if automating red science took more time/clicks than it takes to launch a rocket. Not more thought, just more clicks. That's about where DSP is at right now.

I've played it for 800 hours but I also modded out the stuff that makes it tedious. The new patch implements some of those improvements, like the copy-sorter mod which would remove the billion clicks problem described above.

That is absolutely false / misleading. Tier1 automated science in DSP takes about as many clicks as a couple pre-bot full smelting arrays in Factorio.

I thought from reading the patch notes that that got pushed back another update, but maybe I misread the Engrish. I might actually try it again if that's the case. It's only a small fraction of what the UI needs to be actually good, but it might be enough for me to be able to tolerate it long enough to finish the game.

Blueprints have been pushed back but multibuild is in. Can click and drag new buildings and it'll copy sorters along with it from the looks of it. This was a huge tedious note when building a factory so I'm curious to see how much of a difference this makes.

If it works like the mod, the difference is insane.

Oh no
It does. The only gotcha is it only copies buildings and inserters, so you have to have your conveyor belts already built.

For those still playing Space Haven, are derelicts "infinite" or will they eventually and definitively run out of scrap? Every type of salvage except one on this derelict is now listing "low" chances of success, which suggests infinite scrap, so I'm thinking of focusing on the final remaining type until it reaches low and then finally moving on from this sector.

I remember an older game that was this. The name escapes me. You ran a town which was youe adventuring base, people would show up, they could join you or run buildings in town. It got an expansion that allowed you to play orcs and other more evil beings. Much less cute design. The point was to clear out the entire map, which was tricky.

It runs out eventually yeah. At some point you'll have deconstructed everything on the ship and have nothing left to convert to scrap. Related, if you ever stumble across a derelict that you can "claim", absolutely do so even if you have no interest in repairing and using it, as deconstructing all the parts of a claimed ship will give you much better returns than salvaging a derelict.

Does not apply to DLC which sucks but I guess they are preventing smurfing base game + individual DLC purchases to force new purchasers into GOTY complete editions.

2205 has the most quality of life enhancements than the previous ones, but it's also the least popular, so I'd suggest moving on to 1800.

They’re pretty different as Annos go

2205 is more of a laid back logistics and trade game, while 1800 is more of a plate-spinning experience with light RTS elements. 2205 also has the RTS combat but it’s all sequestered into optional maps

This new DSP update rules, btw. I haven't even gotten past thermal power yet but the copy/paste stuff is seriously a game changer and is pretty intuitive to use too.

What I've gathered is that you can just view the power output. If multiple players are on the same seed, the player with the highest power output represents that seed. Each dot on the map is a seed.

I cannot believe people played this without the copy/sorter mod, but I certainly understand how that could leave a bad taste. I've been doing this since like 2 weeks after launch! Though I will say the copy mod in game is actually more reliable and polished than the very good multibuild mod, so I'm interested what the devs cook up for their blueprint system.

Although I'd say 1404 holds up really well. Give it a try as well, they just released a (mildly) remastered version.

1404 is like prime iconic Anno. 2205 is wildly different conceptually and keeps Anno tone without Anno mechanics. Like omg everybody is so cooperative and just wants number to go up together.

2090 I didn't play, but it was like 1404. 1800 is 1404 mechanics made in 2019 with 2205 voice acting energy.

I'm going to drown! For no reason at all!

The greatest leaker of our times, the Windows Store, outed Two-Point Campus. TPH was pretty fun, so I’m up for whatever they’ll do here.

quote:

Build your university, your way!

It’s time to spin academia on its head! Got a yearning for learning? Or just keen to build an educational masterpiece? Campus is jam-packed with new creative tools to help you build the university of your dreams.

For the first time, build in the great outdoors as you develop your own delightfully educational campus environment, housing the top teaching facilities in the land. Whether you prefer building on simple foundations, or placing every tree, you can build the university you want. Lay down pathways with new easy-to-use tools. Plant glorious collections of outdoor flora. Place benches, fountains, sculptures, hedgerows – even picket fences. The only limit is your imagination (and your in-game bank balance).

Not the usual fare But, of course, it wouldn’t be a Two Point game without a twist. Rather than typical academic fare, students in Two Point County enjoy a range of wild and wonderful courses: from Knight School (hey, we all have to learn jousting at some point in our lives), to the salivatory Gastronomy, where your students will build mouth-watering concoctions like giant pizzas and enormous pies.

The academic year… is here! Take advantage of the opportunity to spend way more time with the little people in your university. The academic year begins with a summer break, giving you enough time to get everything looking great before your students move in.

Build libraries, hire the best staff (from eccentric professors to madcap researchers), kit your campus out with the best courses and watch the academic potential of your students get unlocked!

Shaping the future But it’s not just work hard. Get to know your students, explore their individual personalities, wants and needs. Keep them happy with clubs, societies, gigs.

Surround them with friends, help them develop relationships, furnish them with pastoral care and ensure they have the right amount of joie de vivre to develop into incredible individuals who will do the legacy of your university proud.

If you have any kind of tolerance for older games, try out Anno 1602 (second game in the series). While it lacks many of the QOL features that modern versions do, the gameplay is very good and focused on the core specifics of Anno.

Mind you I haven't played 1800 yet. I am sure it's a great experience.
