In reverse. Kenny ain't losing anything to anyone until he drops the AEW belt.

I mean I guess he could lose the AAA belt to Andrade via DQ or countout.

an undercurrent theme of Omega winning is the sensation of he can't get it done himself, he's the best wrestler in the world and a massive cheat. His aura will not get damaged losing his belts and going progressively more insane.

Cody's storylines have been meh for at least the past 6 months or so, but it's hard to care that much when they don't bleed into the rest of the show.

If he was popping up all over the place with his weird vanity booking it'd be a different story.

Unrelated, but I have a minor gripe where I would've liked to have seen Shida hang in there a little longer before tapping.

Is this Heaven?
Cody matches since like the Brody series are what people who don't watch the Bucks think Bucks' matches are, he has like five finishers that he just aimlessly strings together with no rhyme or reason and then at some point one of them ends it. There's no flow or build at all stuff just happens and then he wins. Ogogo was fine but the match should have just been Cody getting punched in the tummy over and over until he died.

Yeah, If there’s no long term plan between the various companies involved he’ll probably start dropping them sooner rather than later. I guess I’m just clinging to some dream of a cross promotional world title that floats between companies and allows for more of this sort of thing in the years to come.

cant do a cross promotional title like this because AEW is clearly the top promotion so it would mean the other places dont have a top belt and so if a title change happens on them it would be a weird D-show transition and would require the "winners" to be able to freely move between all promotions as their top guy in all of them

its too hard

IT'S LIKE I CAN TOUCH YOU!
A stellar show on almost every level, but I have one problem: the story of Britt Baker winning the title.

They created a scenario where literally everyone was hoping and cheering for the babyface to lose, and that everyone should want the bad guy to win because "She's earned it!" which is just....a really weird story to tell in a wrestling show? It's kinda lowkey insulting to Shida that they've basically made her losing the title a foregone conclusion for like a year and did absolutely nothing to make anybody root for her. Thus, the hero's journey ends with a miserable failure while the first full crowd at a wrestling show in nearly 2 years celebrates the villain who cheated to beat her and she'll probably just fade away to Dark/Elevation land cause Baker's the only woman in the company that matters (until Brandi comes back of course)

Which gets into my other problem; who could possibly challenge Baker at this point? She's beaten Shida, she has victories over Thunder Rosa, and nobody else in the company has been pushed to even remotely her level. Nobody else has any sort of character or storyline beyond "is a good wrestler" or "isn't appearing on the show this week." The only other woman whose being built strong recently is Jade who is also a heel so that's kinda moot.

Frankly I'm convinced at this point it's just gonna be another year-long run where the champion shows up twice a month to squash someone while the rest of the division gets relegated to 3 minute Dark matches with no character building or storylines. Except this time the belt is on the one woman the company will allow to speak ever, so maybe she'll get more screentime than Shida but that's probably about it.

It was for Fyter Fest last year but the two title shots from Revolution were relatively soon after that show, I imagine Fenix and PAC vs. Bucks would've been sooner had PAC not hosed up his ankle.

- They gotta do something about these battle royales. The finishing stretches are always great (because the finishing stretches are just Jungle Boy going nuts) and I really dig Lio Rush if he is in fact All Elite, but the middle portions of these matches are R O U G H to get through and people always dunk on the Joker because people expect every mystery person to be one of Punk/Lesnar/Bryan/Samoa Joe and that's not fair to the promotion but it's also not fair to the talent coming in in these spots that everybody sees them as disappointing for not being one of those guys. The psychology of "OH WOW IT'S LIO RUSH HE'S IN AEW WOW!" going to "ah he has been eliminated" like two minutes later isn't great, either.

Honestly, while they're still fun because battle royales are big and stupid and fun, I feel like AEW's are still just way more of a mess than they should be. The whole entry-by-suit thing is a layer of artifice that makes the match more convoluted for no gain, the Joker thing casts a long shadow over all the other participants, and from a simple production standpoint they still lose track of the action to the point that the commentators tonight were straight-up confused about who was or wasn't eliminated and no one was helping them.

People were cheering for Shida and thanking her, the company gave her the new title belt and all but put the division on her back for a year. The crowd appreciated this.

Thunder Rosa beat Britt in their last match. Nyla Rose has beaten Britt. Two challengers right there.

People had a feeling Britt was gonna win because of how much of a star she's become. She hasn't changed her character and despite this is so massively over that she was able to get dueling chants with a popular champion and won the title in a crazy match with a lot of near falls that made them both look like a million bucks.

TL,DR: Let's wait and see. AEW has earned your trust.
