You can save by going back to the top at the end of each Kalpa, and then go back down the hole to the one you last unlocked. My game crashed (on ps4) when I tried to leave the prison to go to Ginza, and in my foolishness I had told myself I'd save at Ginza, so I had to fight the prison boss again. That learned me lol

Stephen, who is basically the most reliable source of information on how everything works, does explicitly say YHVH made the universe. https://youtu.be/YYLU_w1L9oE?t=1937 Now, maybe not originally. Krishna, Dagda and the rest's whole thing is they remember a universe before YHVH so he didn't start everything from scratch, he just made the current universe. But that was Dagda's and the Divine Powers' whole thing - this universe was made by Him and His rules so it must be destroyed and started over according to new rules.

The Fiends will be made by a Death Stone at certain times of Kagutscuhi. I dunno what times for what Fiend but as a random example, say you are at New Moon. You won't make Daisoujou at Full Moon even with the exact same combinations of demons you are seeing now. So if you don't want him, just run around for a bit to change the cycle. Also if you get Cursed, I think that makes it easier to create Fiends... It makes it easier to make Fouls, Tyrants, etc. because you can't fuse any other types besides those "dark" ones while Cursed. You get awesome music, too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wG1d34BFU6U NikkolasKing fucked around with this message at 15:28 on Jun 2, 2021 |

It looks like several former Atlus employees who worked on some of the older SMT games are coming together to make a new game, Monark. Few details so far, other than a countdown to the reveal on June 10. https://twitter.com/Nibellion/status/1400109071588642830?s=19 https://twitter.com/Persona_Central/status/1400109164563738624 https://twitter.com/Persona_Central/status/1400113931524395016 The four people revealed so far haven't been involved with Megaten since the 90's, as far as i know. The most recent game credit listed for any of them was the first Devil Summoner on the Saturn. I am expecting Monark to be a first person dungeon crawler, but who knows.

Kotowari (理*)? is a philosophical term for "reason," "motive," "logic," or "principle." It is also a homophone for "refusal" (断り*)?. Shijima (靜寂*)? is an archaic spelling for "silence" or "stillness." In modern Japanese the phrase is commonly pronunced as "seijaku" or "shoujaku." Yosuga (縁*)? is an archaic spelling for two different definitions: a. "someone to rely on" or "relative;" b. "mean," "way," or "clue." Musubi (結び*)? is a noun and continuative form of the verb "to wrap" or "to tide" (結ぶ, musubu)?. Unlike other Reasons, the term is not archaic in modern Japanese. From the Wiki

Yeah I've seen that Yosuga definition which is why I'm confused. It doesn't make any sense to me which is why I was hoping a native speaker could explain. There's nuance and cultural baggage that is probably lost when you just say a word means a word, especially when none of the translations seem to make sense.

"Yosuga" uses the second definition there: "Means" or "Way", as in "I will be the Creator because I have the means/way to do so" Well, either that, or it's like ironically referring to oneself as the person you rely on. maybe it's referring to denim as being a tough and reliable fabric

Rely on. Also, close friends. Relatives. According to. "Going to Tokyo with an acquaintance" "Nothing to get close to" 2 clues. Hands up. Method. "Now I don't know the old days anymore" Chiaki Found a method/way to rely on, herself and her pursuit of power. There was a audio Drama or art book or something that described how Chiaki was repulsed by the Hitoshura when she saw him in the club, which is why she didn't come along with him. So in a sense it's ironic, in the Vortex world the only thing she can rely on like a friend or relative is herself and her reason. I don't think your going to get much help from a native speaker, the last usage of the word I could find was from 1681 and the first was from the Man’yoshū, both using alternate Kanji. It's incredibly obscure.

In DeSu 2 by the end game I made sure that every party had Winged Flight, Chaos Wave, or both. Extra range/movement is too good to pass up, plus flight lets you avoid choke points and stuff.

In DeSu 1, the avatar racial switch skill is really loving good in escort missions because you can catapult yourself into danger while moving vulnerable npcs away from danger. All NPCs on the battlefield in the 'other' category are valid targets for the avatar racial skill. You can even use this with multiple avatars in multiple parties to create a teleport chain to carry an NPC to a distant exit relatively quickly. As in, give 1 avatar to 2 or 3 party members, and then give them a genma/avian/wilder/beast and get everyone on the edge of each others switch range to convey a hapless npc to the exit rapidly. Every single turn, in addition to move and attack actions, you get an action for a leader to summon a demon and a demon to return itself to stock. This allows you to snap the movement system of the game in two. Lets say you start a turn with a beast and a wilder in your party. You activate devil speed, zip over to an enemy, and then get a second 7-square move. Make the move, then dismiss the beast and summon a dragon or vile. You have just enabled yourself to zip deep behind enemy lines, and retaliate against ranged foes that attack you. A very simple summon/dismiss combo is moving with a genma or avian, then swapping it with a beast or a dragon/vile before attacking. A party of avian and avatar allows you to bypass obstacles, swap with a distant npc, and then dismiss the avian for a beast if there was a enemy right next to an npc, letting you move even more after battle, or swap the avian for a dragon or vile for a ranged attack. Of course, beast/kishin is the most powerful of these, and after the second move given by beast leg, you can swap for a dragon or vile to strike a distant foe with the second battle the kishin gives you. The best part is that you can start out a turn as avian/kishin or genma/beast, or any other combo involving one of the 2, then proceed to dismiss/summon to a beast/kishin before or after you move, which lets you bypass terrain and brutalize multiple foes. demon traits skills are fun and when people complain about the npcs, they're just saying that they're not interacting with the game mechanics. also it's pretty cool that some maps actually have dialogue changes if you have/use the appropriate demon skills.

I dunno, the game definitely scales to the harder side and it can feel not great to have a team that you've built up that is incredibly reliable against 99% of maps but because you don't have one skill (Demon Speed) certain maps are significantly harder. Hell, some maps you just get super unlucky (that one map where Gin fights Azuma) and if the enemy gets a lucky crit the map is over before you even get a turn Yeah, you could always fuse up a new demon, but in my experience money is kind of tight for me to justify fusing a new demon with a racial skill that is only specifically useful a few times in the game as opposed to some of the other ones that are busted in every single map. There's a reason DeSu2 still had AI maps but made the AI not suicidal

The only experience with grid based SRPGs I have is the Super Robot Wars series and those are really a different beast, and also pretty easy to break. I'm still kinda figuring it all out but some of the tips here I'll try to apply.

Commander Keene posted:I never used the range-enhancing skills much because IIRC they made you so slow. Also, they took away your ability to get Extra Turns which hurt your ability to get Magnetite and Macca. I used the movement-enhancing skills (Devil Speed/Flight/Phantasma/Animal Leg) a fair amount though. They're a lot better in DeSu2, since the enhanced version that gives you 6 range is enough that you can often skip moving and just stand in place blowing things up like an artillery unit; not using your move on a turn easily compensates for the turn order penalty.

Also, all the mainline Shin Megami Tensei protagonists (unless you count Strange Journey) have been 'high-school aged', albeit with Aleph counting weirdly due to being an accelerated clone. The oldest is Flynn, at eighteen. Granted, only the SMT1 protagonist and the Demi-Fiend were actually in high school. And even then, we don't actually see anything about the SMT1 protagonist's school life, it's just assumed he went there.
