Razorback is a stunning fkn film though, made by the guy who did a bunch of Duran Duran clips, it's like a fever dream in parts.

Some more obscure ones that are truly Australian and are well worth looking into:: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Po6oJ7IONfQ Midnite Spares Trailer says everything, it's great if you are familiar with Sydney's Inner West and want to spot early 80's Erskineville, St Peters and Sydenham locations (The final chase scene was filmed very well in the drains next to Sydenham Station) and the comedy playoff between Bruce Spence and David Argue is fantastic, which debatably led to the next film on the list: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDzyXJZa5Nw Hurcules Returns Again, the trailer tells you all you need to know. If you've ever lived in a sharehouse...: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42Q7obO1-aE He Died With A Falafel In His Hand is... well a movie based on a book of collected nightmare anecdotes from sharehouse living (the book of the same name), carefully pieced into a narrative that isn't quite what the trailer nudges at, but is still highly entertaining. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPIZ-RTZCls Incident At Raven's Gate Okay I couldn't find a trailer for this, but it feels like a movie-length version of X-Files crossed with Round The Twist. It has some potential to be an awesome movie if redone right. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojai1EcJcV8 Turkey Shoot Ridiclous Ausploitation classic, fun with a drink.

I like Somersault https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0381429/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 A fragile delicate film about a teenager who runs away up into the high country in winter. A bit slow, but I like it. I also like Bad Eggs https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0312409/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0 Made at the height of their powers, before they had a falling out, this is a Martin/Molloy vehicle that is a fun little romp. But it is very "suburban Melbourne", and very Martin/Molloy. So I dunno how much it would translate to people who didn't grow up there, or knew of them. And for those who like horror, there is The Loved Ones https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1316536/ A nice little horror film about a girl and her dad, and the prom date that tries to get between them.

I forgot a very silly, very Australian film. You Can't Stop The Murders https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0303251/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 A murderer is going around a country town killing people in Village People themed ways. Like Bad Eggs, (which I recommended earlier), it has Bob Franklin in it. This time as a bikie. It's a silly film, as you'd expect a film about Village People murders to be, but I liked it.

Anybody got any dracaenas that are flowering? They have the most beautiful perfume of any flower. And there is so much that the fragrance can fill the house if the wind blows right. The flowering stalk comes out at the start of winter for about a week. The flowers bloom only at night. I love love love them. edit to add another picture. huh fucked around with this message at 23:04 on Jun 5, 2021 |
