Its not like they expect to use the tanks, its just all about funneling money to defense contractors.

This is the equivalent of the Digiorno you get when you order pizza from the place that only takes cash, has inexplicably high prices for stuff, and is always empty save for random greasy dudes in gold chains.

Tanks just seem like a relic from the WW2 era, why does any military still need them? You might as well be funneling money into training war horses or old timey cannons.

drat that was one of the first songs I downloaded too, along with the limp bizkit MI2 theme

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdpP6ynPbiY

One of my fondest memories of that internet era was showing my dad Napster on his NT4 machine. We searched for Jethro Tull, started downloading it, and a minute later it was canceled and we received several messages from the peer along the lines of “stop hogging my bandwidth you loving queer, eat my poo poo.” :discourse:

Back in the Napster days I used to edit the song "Bastard of Christ" by Deicide to include the appropriate amount of time to replicate top 40 hits and watch and laugh as people downloaded them. Man I miss that level of quality file sharing.

Lol this was me. My mom was a teacher so all her co-workers put in orders for $20/disc. That was a great year, it funded my first gaming PC

Just don't touch the PC while it's burning or it will fail

lol yeah my first burner was like a 2x-4x speed drive and you had to turn off the screen saver because just that kicking on would guarantee a wasted disc

the cd burner was by far the most valuable means of production for late 90s highschoolers

had another friend who would mod PS1s to accept bootleg games and we would rent games from blockbuster for $4 and pirate/sell them

he would always put his modded PS1 up as collateral so if he hosed up your playstation trying to mod it you'd still get a functional pirated PS1

Porn was king on deployment in the 00s. I had my laptop and external hard drive mailed to Iraq, wound up spending a lot of time copying stuff to other peoples' usb drives over a month or so, and I only had around 20gb of porn (thanks dpph/Ldpb). Rest of the external was music, movies, tv shows, ebooks.

There's less excitement to life now that porn is a click away and not scattered in the woods or in creepy stores with empty front parking lots (but packed tight in the rear).

the cdr one i found when i dug through my old cds a while back was Love and Death by the Flatmates, i think i burned a Monochrome Set cd for the guy.

i was a big music dork and was honestly tempted to set up that kind of arrangement a few times, especially with god figures on soulseek who had amazing libraries and consistently hundreds of downloads queued

if you struck out on SLSK and had to go to *shudder* limewire or something, it was such a crap shoot what you'd get if you tried to download an album

i remember die hard FAVORITE albums i had that were either a bit different or way different than what i managed to cobble together for a burned disc in the oughts
