This must be one of those Mandela effect things, because I could swear that the guy in the trench coat was pretty clearly a bull, with horns peeking out around the hat.

Could be getting the imagery confused with the bulls in the china shop.

A slight exaggeration, but given the neatness and sorting (or total lack thereof) in your typical retail store, the employees get what they deserve. You want me to inventory your neatly boxed and labeled product in a well-lit space, you get an accurate count. You want me to inventory 10 boxes crammed full of unsorted lingerie in an unventilated back room, well...we gotta be out of here by 9. Eventually, i quit the job, because the pressure to be fast, "approximations," and general BSing data drove me nuts. Was good practice for military life, though.

Snuffkin is absolutely in the correct spot, but I question Little My's placement. Although I guess 'chaos elemental' doesn't really map to a political compass.

I think you may be confusing it with a different one, where a cow is buying meat from a butcher and the caption is something about the dark road that Bessy had gone down, but maybe I’m the one misremembering.

So this is kind of the opposite of what this strip is saying, but recently I've been watching the MST3K shorts again and in Hired! (mostly part 2) they're talking to a guy and say they want him to come back next year to buy a new car from them, and say "We hope you'll buy your next ten cars from us." It's kind of crazy to think that there was (at least according to the short) a time where a car was considered a purchase you made frequently, maybe even yearly.

I wonder if that's part of why boomer men like to pride themselves on being Car Guys. If they're breaking all the time then knowing how to fix one yourself is really useful, and if you replace them a lot then it's good to know what to look for. (of course Car Guys still exist, but the boomer version is its own particular flavor)

As for that actual TWDT, that is hitting a weird point in music history where it started becoming something more like the modern music industry, with the changes in trend speed and record consumption that implies. I also like the attention to detail with the old school phonograph(cylinders and all) vs the modern(for the time) record player.
