Also he tweets a lot and gets in a lot of twitter fights with people, which got him some exposure but didn't seem to translate to votes very well. So Arizona finally put its CRITICAL RACE THEORY IS THE REAL RACISTS crap under the state budget about a week ago, and three days ago the Governor signed it into law as a separate bill so that it would cover ALL State institutions, not just schools. Here's what the final text ended up being:quote:A. Its written intentionally vaguely of course, but we all know how it'll be interpreted by the chud parents who are aching to destroy the Liberal Commie Indoctrinators they think are poisoning their children's minds. The list of concepts not to be taught is separate from the general provision against "blame or judgment." But in the separate law Doucey signed the other day, HB 2906, that list of concepts not to be taught is rebranded as the DEFINITION of "blame and judgment!" quote:D. "BLAME OR JUDGMENT ON THE BASIS OF RACE, ETHNICITY OR SEX" MEANS THE FOLLOWING CONCEPTS: So, this is actually amazing, because it totally neuters the law. Before, Section A was worded in such a nebulous way by not defining "blame or judgment," that any history teacher would have to be constantly looking over the metaphorical shoulders, because all it would take is some kid's parent thinking you're trying to force their baby into feeling The White Guilt and you'd be in the crosshairs. But now they have strictly defined what "blame or judgment," means, and its the litany of dumb Breitbart Headline Bullshit That Doesn't Actually Exist. They've literally sabotaged their own anti-Critial Race Theory law at the one yard line. Truly, Republican incompetence has reached new heights. And if that wasn't enough for you, here's an earlier part of the proposed amendment that makes it clear (in case you couldn't guess) what it means by "victims of other nations' governing philosophies who can compare those philosophies with those of the United States." quote:The academic standards prescribed by the state board in social studies shall include personal finance, and American civics education AND A COMPARATIVE DISCUSSION OF POLITICAL IDEOLOGIES, SUCH AS COMMUNISM AND TOTALITARIANISM, THAT CONFLICT WITH THE PRINCIPLES OF FREEDOM AND DEMOCRACY ESSENTIAL TO THE FOUNDING PRINCIPLES OF THE UNITED STATES. This amendment was a literal attempt to force teachers to teach Militant Neo-Red Scare Propaganda as if it were civics, and indeed to not only do it themselves, but to forcibly include state-funded testimonials from Cuban Expats and any other counter-revolutionary they can find to sit in front of a camera and tell children that every bad thing that happened to them and their family was because of Communism and nothing else. Like, its not enough to try and control what the teachers teach, they want to mandate, at the state level, ideologically compliant primary sources. Jesus loving christ, I've said it before but I need to get the hell out of this state and into a securely blue one. The AZ GOP may be imploding, but I don't want to be around while there is even a single breath in their bodies. I'm more and more terrified of what they might do in their death throes every day, and the other red states are trying to do even worse. If their goal is to try and turn their schools into ideology factories by making sure no teachers who care about actual education and facts are willing to risk living under their governments, kudos, its working.
