Doesn't know the impossible.

Question for those who've got in: if you update your old character to the NGS models as part of the new character creation, do you revert to the PSO2 model when you go back to PSO2, or is it a one-way change? Would still like to keep access to old clothes for fashion's sake if nothing else.

Correct. It doesn't matter if you use MS Store or Steam. Your account is linked and will load regardless of storefront. It is only for people launching the game on Steam for the first time if they previously played elsewhere.

The clothes don't go away, your outfits are still there, you just might not look quite the same putting them on.

As far as I can tell it scales to the number of players, so if you've got six shitheads wandering around aimlessly and two people trying to fill the meter it will drain faster than they can fill.

It does it automatically. When it's in range it will start sending out big scanning lasers in the direction you're supposed to go.

Mags are purely cosmetic so that one is gone. Race and gender no longer affect stats so that's gone. You still have to use rare items to reset your skill trees, but the skill trees have less trap choices now so that's better.

Spend the space bucks on cosmetics before the prices on them spike. Granted, hair and eyes are high, but outfit tickets are cheap as gently caress. Buying old outit consumable tickets is like buying stonks, the price can only go up once the supply is cut off.

I do wonder how they're going to distribute stuff that generally had low value, like certain accessories and most room furnishings (are rooms even a thing in new genesis?). If they throw all those things into AC scratch then that severely dilutes the value of an AC scratcher, or drives up the price of some of the less "valuable" cosmetics.

If you think calling me names is gonna get a rise out me, think again. I like my life as an idiot!
Okay, a lot of questions -

Preface - I played PSO2 for a few months during US launch. I made it through episode 2. Then got bored. Didn't go back. Did spend probably too much money on scratch tickets. Have a mountain of meseta and SP and casino points and all that poo poo.

1 - Will base PSO2 ever see another update or is it just a museum at this point?

2 - When you transfer a character to NGS, it's not so much a transfer, but a link right? Lets say I start playing the character in NGS, then I go back to base PSO2 and make progress and get some stuff, will my NGS character also have the stuff or is it a one time copy/transfer? I guess the way I assumed was: PSO2 cosmetics unlock for both, NGS cosmetics unlock for NGS only. Unless it's more of a "Unlock for one, unlock for both" sort of thing. I assumed all currencies were separate to their respective games.

3 - If I remember correctly, I had a mountain of meseta when I quit PSO2. Is there anything I could spend it on in PSO2 that would be beneficial to me in NGS? Are there any other things I can spend my other PSO2 currencies that would be of any value/worth in NGS?

4 - Is there a casino? I probably spend 80% of my time in PSO2 in the casino, if not more. I watched the entire series of PSO2 Episode Oracle while playing Arkuma Slots.

5 - How much story is there in NGS? Is it about equal to a single episode of PSO2?

6 - Why do they have to make things so loving complicated and convoluted.

Hairstyles, Accessories, and Weapon Camos can be used on the NGS bodies and heads. Bear in mind that at the tail end of PSO2 Classic meseta inflation went out of control so that mountain may not be as big as you think.

Yes, when you pick them at character select it sends you right into the salon. Change their body type and face type in there and bang, NGS.

You'll have to tweak it of course, my poor caseal had a hank hill rear end.

You're never locked out of anything. You get the hd NGS models if you wear NGS cosmetics. You revert to the old PSO2 model whenever you put on old PSO2 clothes or CAST parts.
This is also how it works for male and female bodies now -- anyone can equip outfits that were previously gender-locked, and your character's body will change to fit them while they're on.

Skill points in both your main and subclass count a lot, so you can go exploring for cocoons or towers to make up that deficit.
Augments on your gear also kind of matter. You probably have a billion lovely augment capsules with stuff like +5 hp or 25% chance to avoid poison status, just fill all your augment slots with something (except on gear you plan to ditch soon) .
But yeah getting your weapons to +10 or +20 will help a lot too.

upgrading your gear will give you the biggest gains in BP, on that note I added a note about doing that to the OP because I feel this isn't really pointed out too well. But I am not too sure if I put it in a good place that people will see it so shrug.

1 - As far as we know it's a museum now; if you can brave PSO2-classic it could save you a little trouble with needing materials to upgrade your early game equipment here in NGS, but at this point I don't think it's worth starting PSO2-classic fresh just for that.

2 - It's a link; the bank storage is shared across both games, gear from PSO2-classic simply has different stats while in NGS, and you cannot use PSO2-classic gear in the NGS item lab. Cosmetics are actively shared across both games, but sadly item-based cosmetics (pre-NGS outfits, pre-NGS suits, pre-NGS [ou]terwear) have to be in that game's character inventory to use.

3 - you could buy an 8-slot 14⭐ weapon in PSO2-classic, and if you had a mountain of Photon Boosters from the days of Advanced Quest grinding, get EXP Weapon Minis from the Photon Booster exchange lady on the 2nd floor of the shops area to upgrade it to +35, which then when you log into NGS, it will become a 3⭐ weapon equip-able at level 10. You shouldn't need to have to mess with the augments on the weapon you buy, simply having 8 slots should make it do enough things that it'd save you the trouble of having to use NGS resources to upgrade an NGS weapon to a similar level.

4 - no casino yet, but it is probably a safe bet that there will be one eventually.

5 - no. It's closer to maybe a couple chapters worth, which is technically more than the single chapter PSO2 launched with back in 2012. Phantasy Star Crew has been doing dripfeed content since Phantasy Star Universe, which has largely been decent for them from a workload standpoint I guess, if they've continued doing it for this long anyway.

6 - :pscrew:

PSO2 CAST parts remain items, but NGS CAST parts are now tickets

if you want to throw anything away, unless you’re actively planning on continuing to play PSO2, it’s pretty safe to toss poo poo like boosters, Su candy box items, crafting supplies, Franca request items and gathered items, since none of those will ever be used in NGS, and the effectiveness of PSO2 equipment falls off hard once you can get 4* NGS stuff, so that’ll be worth liquidating too
