The little flip flip land animations in Maneater are brilliant and I never stopped cackling whenever I manage to launch myself out of a swimming pool to obliterate some innocent pedestrian. Game is about exactly the right length of time you want to be a B movie shark too.

The swappable upgrades is a great idea, I ust wish there were more different upgrade trees and less upgrade tiers for each part - would have been fun to be a hammerhead or something goofy but just ended up going Bone most of the time.

My only other complaint is that you don't get to bite a plane/helicopter which seems like an automatic win for an over the top shark movie.

I'd be interested in a sequel, if it's ever made. Some good ideas in this one that feel hamstrung by a smaller budget. Wonder if the dlc includes anything different as well.

It's also weird as poo poo to make a fantasy game with real life races as the playable races. That's like choosing to play a Black Wizard in D&D.

Something something, Elder Scrolls. Though in-universe in a sci-fi setting, I imagine you'd want to appeal to the widest demographics of potential players from different species. It'd be like having vampires as a playable variant of human while secretly vampires are a real thing.

(Now reminded of those memes that are like 'So what if supernatural creatures are real and aliens know about them, and upon first contact are surprised that we don't')

Star Trek weirdly enough seems ahead of the curve in that people definitely unwind in the future by playing video games.

Reminds me of the ep where Jadzia and Kira emerge from the holosuites in gorgeous colourful dresses and it seems Kira doesn't quite get the vibe of the Camelot holoprogram; she played Guinevere and punched out Lancelot, since her character is a married woman.

There's a novel about an alien invasion that goes badly for humans and the planet is about to be destroyed, so DRACULA wakes up and turns into mist and infiltrates the mother ship and kills the aliens and then turns everyone on Earth into vampires and then they steal the ships and go out into space to forge a vampire space empire.

Absolutely. I played on gamepass so felt like I got my money's worth but would have been slightly annoyed at paying full price for a game that short. An expanded version or sandbox mode with a bunch of new mutations would be good.

I'd also accept Maneater 2: Alligator Time with a similar gameplay loop except approached from the other side so you're an air-breathing gator loving up land animals and occasionally dipping into the water.

I'm already liking Faust in Guilty Gear Strive. If you haven't played it, he's the doctor in the paper bag with the giant scalpel--you know, likely the one Guilty Gear character you know by sight. He's much more big and creepy than in previous games, but he's got a bunch of wacky, weird moves like throwing out random junk, summoning scarecrows, running into his opponent's shin with a wheelchair (that's one of his supers), and giving his opponent a haircut.

It took me a bit to realize why he might've gotten that last one new to this game. In Strive he's gone from wearing a double-breasted doctor's coat to bloodied scrubs. He's become a barber surgeon.

Another great dossier in ME2: Garrus' visor specs.

quote:

Targeting Visor (Custom)

- Unique model, based on Kuwashii frame

- Magnification up to 100x, integrated target tracing, optional wind/gravity compensation solutions

- Sonar, LADAR, thermal, and EM targeting capable

- Monitors biofeedback on target within 10 meters to detect heart-rate fluctuations or changes to breath pattern (standard Council races only)

- Can detect and measure biotic fields up to 100 meters away and provide optimized firing solution to collapse kinetic barriers or synthetic shielding support

- Optional kill-timer can track number of enemies taken down by self or suit-synced team members in given time period

- Armor hotlink provides backtracing of incoming fire and corrects for microrefraction of outgoing shots through kinetic barrier

- Audio link plays music per user request. Top 5 choices during firefight:
1) "Die for the Cause" (turian imperial anthem)
2) "Fire in the Courtyard" (soundtrack, Fleet and Flotilla)
3) "Bang Bang Boom" (Club Kicks, dance mix)
4) "Hurt Me Deeper" (Best of Expel 10, dance mix)
5) "Blue Azure" (Vaenia, soundtrack)

-Ten names carved into frame: Erash, Monteague, Mierin, Grundan Krul, Melenis, Ripper, Sensat, Vortash, Butler, Weaver (Additional name carved and subsequently burned out: Sidonis)

So yes, Garrus is canonically listening to his space ipod while on missions. And one of his favorites is a porn video's soundtrack.

Pretty sure a big part is that you can use the replicator to make a fitting costume for basically free within seconds. Though one of the best little jokes is Quark, who has very little context for these things, wonders what the gently caress Bashir and O'Brien are doing in the holosuites in their Battle of Britain pilot costumes.

This is because he sells his holosuites as basically porn simulators so he's not used to people using them to basically larp or play video games.

I can tell you May is there, but my main is Axl Low* so I couldn't tell you how her balance goes. I'm pretty sure instant kills aren't in Strive, though a quick check of May's through the series says that her instant kill was only easy to land in the original Guilty Gear.

And I'll tell you that the bolded part is a drat lie when you consider her 6P had ridiculous invulnerability and stun damage on it, combined with her IK in X and XX being a grab. I mean, it's not as easy as it was in the original GG, but then again, none of them were as easy to do as they were in that one.

Manhunter has some jank- the auto-focus doesn’t work very well and that makes combat tricky- but it’s forgiving enough that it’s not a game breaker. It’s fun in short bursts and I’m glad that somebody’s doing a “cause problems on purpose” game nowadays.
