The Disney one they did was great. I watched one episode and everyone who is involved in Mary Poppins seemed truly happy to see the old artifacts.

I'm assuming their rear end is being carried entirely on name/brand recognition alone. Lots of people used to watch Wrestling, the WWE was the only show in the US for about 20 years. The inverse is probably why the XFL flopped, the NFL is the big monopoly, nobody wants to watch a new product with the left-overs and couldn't make it in the big league players

To be fair to them (and nobody should feel obligated to be), this is obviously taken before the show even started because there isn't anybody at the commentary table or anything. That tends to happen a lot with people who want to do the doom and gloom thing, even if the attendance turns out to actually be bad.
