People kept complaining about scalpers even though they took less than 10% of stock and this is what they got. GW can't tell who is and who isn't so we get solutions like this. This is going to make it harder to get releases and the secondary prices for just released LEs is going to shoot up.

Here is the skinny from our UK brothers and sisters. The queue goes live at 5 minutes before the hour with the drop happening at top of hour. If you are on the site before the top of hour you will be automatically placed randomly in the queue. If you go on the site at the top of the hour or after you will be put in order behind everybody else. You need to be logged into your account and on the site 10 minutes before and it should auto add you to queue at 5 minutes before.

Queue times may show up to an hour plus but it won't actually take that long. Remember this is site wide so a lot of people won't be interested in the LEs. Also a lot of people will give up when they see long times. Reports of people showing an hour wait before it suddenly dropping to less than 10 a few minutes later.

No idea how GW will feel about you being logged in on multiple systems. I will be logged in on my phone through mobile and my desktop through my local internet.

Alas, I have no idea on that front - bloody hope so, though.

To be honest, once the final manuscripts are sent away, I don't tend to know much about formats, print runs and dates.

I do know Ghaz will probably be getting a bigger print run because of how quickly the LE sold out, which is cool - I'd hope that swings things in favour of an audiobook being commissioned, too.

Also, here's a picture I did of paulie walnuts from the sopranos, but as a titan. Seemed the right thing to do.

well. when it hits audible(and even if it doesn't) i'll pick it up. 40k audio books tend to genuinly be pretty good and mostly unabridged(thanks old star wars books)

I'll just have to throw the Ghaz book to my christmas shopping list. Alongside Gitslayer and the new Sabbat Crusade Anthology.

Also started re-reading Titanicus on a whim. I think the best part is that because the book came out before the AdMech codexes the Skitarii are proper weird. And not just robot guys in robes with radioactive guns. Plenty of mentions of pelts and plumes and them behaving like wild beasts. It's rad.

Titanicus is one of my favourite Abnett books because of stuff like that, plus the contrast between Imperial/Mechanicus culture that runs throughout the book.

So pro-tip for future LE purchases, or actually any purchase as it looks like they will have the queue system whenever tabletop stuff drops too.

The way they have it configured now the queue spot is based on user agent not IP. That means having multiple chrome profiles gets you multiple places in the queue. I had 6 windows open each on a different chrome profile but all logged into the same GW account and got 6 different places in the queue. Two of them got very low spots and the first one that got through I ordered on and closed the others.

It's possible GW will change this in the future, but for now this is how to game the queue to make sure you can get LEs before out of stock. The Warhawk LE should be releasing in the next couple of weeks and it's going to be a circus trying to get a copy.

From the Titanicus descriptions I imagined a lot of variety in number of legs, arms and mechandrites(cyber dongs) but also in functional layout.
Like a lot of scorpion centaurs, bird men, big cat and vulpine type dudes in design and animalistic movement with machine speed and precision.

Was probably described in the text in such a way but for sure one of the scenes of skitari taking down a chaos titan had me thinking of ants swarming a much larger creature and taking it apart while it is still alive.

You can. Some stores the guy is just going to try and order it through the site the same as you would yourself. Some stores have in store sales terminals. Those are supposedly setup to bypass the queue. So if your local store has one of those it's probably your best bet to guarantee something although if a bunch of other people are there I assume there would be a line and you just know one guy is not gonna have his payment info ready or anything else and take forever and gently caress it up for everybody behind him.

Yeah, it was written before AdMech/Skitarii had a codex so it has a lot of weird and cool descriptions. What a great book.

Tallarn: Ironclad has a really good side plot about the Vanus assassin Iaeo that gave me a hankering for more Officio Assassinorum books. She shows so much resourcefulness and competence that instead of writing her off as the character who gets murdered in the third act I was really invested in her. I've been reading Nemesis and somehow the book about an entire team of assassins isn't as captivating as Iaeo's story.

I enjoy the idea that, because it's entirely made up of people looking at paper records, not only can you get dire predictions out of looking at what shakes out of the administratum's structure, the literal will of the Emperor can be made evident by a bunch of scribes deciding to buck protocol all at once.

I really liked how each department has it's own family/clan structure and they raid each other for paper, resources, and women. The clan that is at the bottom of the trash tube that burns paper was awesome too. I absolutely love all the terran subculture poo poo we get glimpses of in the books.

Like, the Abnett stuff (which is most of my reading) is so incredible based in England's martial conflicts, what if that all, with the same story beats, been written by American or Japanese or whichever authors?

I liked how the book opens with maybe a few dozen pages of absolutely basic bolter porn, in line with the dime-a-dozen cover art, and then proceeded to have virtually zero SM fighting until the finale (which was another snoozefest).

The Administratum sections were definitely the highlight of the book, although I thought they veered well into grimderp several times. But my favourite was the brief scene with the inquisitor and the commissar.
