The Forza Motorsport games on 360 had really solid damage models, but something definitely changed with the generation following because they toned down visual damage a lot. After playing Gran Turismo for so long I was really impressed with how badly cars could get busted up when I played Forza 2.

The licensing problems in these games has more to do with the cars than the music tbh, especially for the mainline series.

Did anyone ever find out what the deal with Toyota was? After EA finally lost the Porsche license I thought that was the last we'd see of that kind of thing.

Speaking of, for the person who likes crashing cars also check out Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered it's really good and basically a cross between Forza Horizon and Burnout.

Also, way too many different Ferraris. I’d be curious the amount of players who want to play the seventh best Ferrari vs players who want to drive a ‘96 Civic.

Drive the civic.

I noticed races were much easier to win when driving my stock '85 Ford Escort instead of a high performance sports car.

On the flip side, that first 20 minutes of FH4 is loving incredible, and an experience I wish I could have over fresh again

As a complete non-racer type, FH4 quickly became my most played Xbox game (followed by FH3). It's just so fun and relaxing.

Also each game typically has an even wilder DLC tie-in (Lego in FH4 and Hot Wheels in FH3)

And FH5's Game Labs mode looks like it's basically "create your own wild DLC"

Especially at the very end when you get a glimpse behind the truck and see this insane physically impossible sky-high spiraling track.

The other great thing in Forza Horizon 4 is dressing your character up in the dumbest clothes imaginable and having them do dance moves on top of historically important sites.

Any game that has my wife roll her eyes at my character doing the running man on top of a castle in a shiny silver miniskirt with duck boots, groucho marx glasses with a moustache and a gold top hat is a good game.

It’s a little silly, but it makes sense. If you’re trying to sell somebody a major purchase, you probably want to keep negative imagery to a minimum. Still silly though.

It’s a shame Ford won’t acknowledge the existence of the Pinto. I’m positive Turn 10 would put it in; they have a wide range of janky cars you’d never expect or want to see in a racing game.

edit: they’ve got a Delorean! That’s a car I’d never expect to see but actually want.

Xbox has historically done incredibly poorly in Japan, no matter how much money Microsoft throws at indie developers to make increasingly esoteric arcade shmups for it.

PC also isn't hugely popular IIRC, being traditionally the realm of indie devs selling burned CD-Rs of their work at comic conventions and/or outright porn games, but things like the ability to reach an international audience via Steam and the whole thing about not having to pay for devkits has improved matters.

In some cases there's a non-compete, but Xbox is also the least popular of the big three consoles, and this is especially true in places like Japan so Japanese devs don't typically release stuff on Xbox unless they're expecting to sell a ton of units in the US.

Mind you that's over-simplified and there are weird dynamics at play now with things like Game Pass and the fact that Sony's been de-prioritizing indie titles if they're not at household name levels, but for smaller scale releases especially if they need to sell well outside of the US they will drop Xbox first if they drop anything. The remastered Ace Attorney Trilogy released on PC, PlayStation, Switch and Xbox but didn't sell well on Xbox so now they're not releasing the Great Ace Attorney on there (but are still releasing on PS4/Switch/PC).

To add to what everyone said, it just isn't that the console performs poorly in Japan, but that Japanese style games sell terrible on it in the West.

For example Ace Attorney Trilogy did well on Switch and PC and well enough on PS4, but sold only like a couple thousand copies on the Xbox One. Sure that's just one example but there are plenty like it.

It's no secret that each platform userbase has a specific taste, and while things are more converged than ever before there are still some blindspots. By and large the Xbox appeals to people with a very "American" taste and while that means major properties like Dragon Ball or Tekken can appeal to them, stuff like Kill La Kill and Undernight won't.

I'm no TV expert but if you're thinking big OLED it's probably going to be up there in that price range. You'll want to make sure you have HDMI 2.1 which should be pretty standard on most new TVs and allows 4k @ 120fps.

I enjoyed the demo, but it is pretty rough in places. I figured out how to break out of the demo area and get the real bike, so I messed around with it long enough to get more accustomed with the controls. It's good enough for me. The real bike definitely feels better too, though it still can be wonky on uneven terrain.

Even if I could give it nothing else for praise, it is almost impossible to take a bad screenshot of that game. Holy poo poo.
