This may be a really dumb question, but are they still using Finecast resin? Did they get any better at quality control on it? I ask because I was looking at getting one of these Doomflayers the other day, but if they're still likely to be as bad as some of the other finecast pieces I've had in the past I may hold off.

Not on new stuff AFAIK but yes.

It's still trash.

It's a big problem with the Lord of the Rings range. Some stuff was converted over to Finecast, some of it is still in metal, and the new stuff is all in really excellent quality plastic. I really want to get some High Elf warriors with spears, but the GW site only has them available in "finely detailed resin" which immediately tells me it's Finecast trash. Erkenbrand was just awful to assemble, clean and paint and I do not want to deal with that again.

If you ever buy metal Warmachine/Horde Warjacks and Warbeasts they will spontaneously explode if dropped since they're all poorly fitting chunks of metal that can double as a lethal weapon when flung at someone.

Building the Skorne warbeasts in metal might have been one of my worst hobby experiences. Amazing designs, but also a horrible mess of pinning and green stuff filling that can detonate into tiny pieces if someone looks at them the wrong way.

I've always used superglue+talc whenever I needed a gap filled that couldn't be melted together with plastic glue. Just the tight combination of sticky, hard and cures rapidly.

That video is of a different gap filling trick. It's a lot more messy to dump baking soda into superglue, it doesn't fill as well and there is no leeway if you make a mistake since the baking soda will set the superglue the moment it hits.

The technique I use is to put some talc on a piece of was plastic (ziplocs are great) and then dispense some superglue on it. Mix together with a toothpick or other implement to desired consistency then smear into the gap like you would do with gap filling putty. Leave to dry for a couple of hours and it will be hard enough to sand smooth. After 24 hours it will fully cure and go rock hard.

Use a medium or thick superglue. The thin versions will set very rapidly when mixed with the talc.

I think I’m going to grab a Necromunda starter set as I played space hulk with a buddy recently and got a hankering for the specialist games.

Since my buddy already has second edition Space Hulk, I figured I’d buy a Necromunda starter set.

I was going to grab KillTeam but Necromunda for some reason reminds me of Unreal Tournament which I bashed to death back in 99.

Buy fewer candles

Or glue weapons bitz to your candles and use those as your models. Set their heads on fire when they are KIA.

It completely killed the Danish Underworlds scene. Prices kept going up, cards started rotating out (which is good), and then they started releasing poo poo like the Gift Pack, so people dumped their collections and just stopped playing.

Speaking as an ignorant person with no frame of reference, how are they awful and how are combat patrols better?

Part of the appeal of Kill Team as a concept was the idea of having individual specialist characters that you control one by one; I hear that Warcry handles that better and I’ve been meaning to try that.

I guess Cursed City counts as a specialist game right? My wife and I finally decided to sit down and play a game today. It was a little hard to get the hang of how everything worked, which wasn't helped by the terrible rulebook. That game really needs a good cheat sheet for player actions. We only got about half way through a scenario, but I think once we start in on the actual campaign it will go a little smoother since we know how things work now. I will say, recovering from wounds is rough. It's up to chance, so you could end up wasting actions to get nothing, and if you have one of the weaker Vitality dice it's very likely you won't get anything back. Other then that though I'm looking forward to trying again. Maybe someday I'll even get around to painting the models.

Yep. I didn't try it, but I was going to house rule it so you still get a die for wound counters but it can only ever have a value of 1. Then make poison do something different. This could make things too easy though. There were a lot of house rules and fixes being floated on the board game geek forums but I can't attest to their quality.

Hey, sorry if this isn't technically the right thread for this question, but does anyone have tips for Lizardmen in Blood Bowl 2 (PC)? It's been years since I've played, and I've joined a league with some friends and friends-of-friends. I remember that Lizzies like punching and running, but no passing. I'm going up against Skaven first, so I think it should be a faaaiiirly even match, from memory.

Otherwise, all I remember is that you should perform non-risky moves first, then work your way up...so yeah, not a lot! :D

Try to put a lot of tackle zones in the way of the Gutter Runners; mark the rest of the rats as much as possible to force them to risk dodging away and bash them if they don't; use the Kroxigor to make dodging even more difficult because of Prehensile Tail; remember that your skinks are as strong and nearly as fast as the Gutter Runners so you may be able to chase them down with the little guys if they break through your line and can't quite reach the end zone.

In general you have a good chance of causing some injuries/knockouts which makes the Rats suffer from lack of board control. But you will struggle to keep the Gutter Runners from scoring because they are almost perfectly designed to do it. A wall of S4 players with a S5 prehensile tail guy can be a tricky thing for Rats to face however.

You can set up a column defence (look this up for a pictoral representation but I'll try to describe it) which forces a lot of dodging: stack your players in pairs with Saurus in front and Skink behind, making sure there is two spaces between each "column" and one space between the side line and the widest column on either side. You can cover the whole pitch this way with a full team (and the Kroxigor will be somewhere in the mix here, in place of one of the Saurus.) This means that even with a blitz move the opponent will still have a player in the way that they will have to dodge past. Gutter Runners can still do it but will require some 3+ dodging.

Unlike Elf column defence though you can't reposition easily if the rats mark your saurus, as they can't dodge away to form up another defensive line. Which isn't that much of a problem because it means you'll then get a round of hitting them and hopefully causing some damage. If the opponent swarms your columns you'll get pinned down but should be able to make it a costly decision for them. If they don't mark the Saurus you can reform the column line and try to keep the Runners with at least a few tackle zones to dodge through.
