QCS thread is pretty entertaining, CIA dude got thoroughly mocked, ridiculous people got exposed to actual moderation for the first time in a while. Hopefully various "state funded" involuntary gang tags become a thing, for whichever country. There was that one dude trying to get Thread He Didn't Like closed, but that's not remarkable. Edit: I did skip from page ~10 to page ~15, so if there's something terrible there I'm not referring to that I guess. Atopian fucked around with this message at 13:22 on Jun 20, 2021 |

I'd like to thank this thread and it's iterations over the years for keeping me in the know and zeitgeist of China. Every Chinese girl I've dated has complimented me on knowing special things such as Li Gang, cha bu do, noticing how she refuses to step on manhole covers on the sidewalk (and knowing why!) and recently the "national man" thing.

i'm glad that now china is a big-boy geopolitical rival we can start caring about their human rights record. not enough to stop importing all of our consumer goods from them of course, but just enough to justify extra military spending. what a moral system we have!

So does SA have like a social credit score with post/rap histories and posting things critical of china in this thread leads to getting banned? I dont think were bad to china, Remember when Genesplicer closed the china thread because a Canadian goon, posted about getting fired from the indian reservation school for racial reasons. That was fun Also remember when some caught probations for using the N-word that means farmer. Or using the other N word that ment best korea. Or haier catching it for that story about getting bitten on a train india and expressing relief he didnt get hepatitis. Or haier talking about the china version of tinder tan tan, and all the older women who ether wanted to bump ugly for free english lessons to their kids or wanting to set him up with a younger co worker.

Yeah I'll be honest. The sexpat stories of hooking up with weird chinese girls were the real hook for me. I started reading this thread because I was dating a girl from Hong Kong, so I figured I'd culture myself, but there's just something so gratifying about reading a story about fingering a chubby chinese girl in a stained shirt and feeling something with the texture of peanut brittle up there... I also downloaded tan-tan. It's not super great where I'm at, but it's better in other places with a higher density of users... Most interesting person I found was a Jamaican weeb who was "1/4 Japanese". I tried to imply that her mom was hot, and she confirmed it. (USER WAS PUT ON PROBATION FOR THIS POST)

Jeff at least reversed the ban + 30 for the guy who dared to even look like he was pro-intervention for Libya. I didn't know there were Qaddafi tankies out there to begin with let alone in 2021.Probably Magic posted:Why is there a politically-themed China thread in GBS? Fojar38 posted:Hakimashou got a ban + 30 for saying the Chinese government is culpable for the Covid-19 pandemic, and that's a pretty hosed up ban+probe IMO for what is an increasingly mainstream position So now the GBS China thread is mostly political because, even if not for the pandemic travel restrictions, it's frankly unsafe for most Westerners to visit there. I've also personally learned a lot from almost every regular poster here. Sidebar: From what I remember, Hakimashou had his fasces platinum icon imposed on him by one of the politics forums, and it was being pointed to as his own doing in QCS. Working as intended, I guess. Probably Magic posted:Why is there a politically-themed China thread in GBS? It's not inherently political, it's a catch-all discussion thread for anything about China which is often going to involve politics but doesn't always. You might say it's general bullshit about China. One of the things that elevates it above other China threads is the relative abundance of regular posters who are actually Chinese/have lived and worked in China. The Great Autismo! posted:well I am definitely going to have a beer and read that QCS thread and lol a bit later today, jeez you log off for two days and miss all kinds of stuff I wouldn't recommend it to be honest, it's not one of the entertaining QCS threads, it's basically just a long struggle session.

Shumagorath posted:There you go. The actual political subforums seem to be losing the ability to understand implication. Taking an example where time has removed all controversy, saying "The Soviet Union is responsible for the Chernobyl disaster" doesn't mean that the government explicitly ordered the reactor be induced to melt down, or that radioactive fallout in Europe is the fault of all Russian/Ukrianian people or Soviet citizens. It does mean that institutional culture in a society where the truth meant less than staying on your immediate boss' good side, and having an explicitly dangerous dual-use reactor design, created the necessary circumstances for the disaster and subsequent coverup. The PRC could avoid a repeat of this by simply not dicking the WHO investigators around, but instead there's been an obvious campaign of face-saving and rear end-covering to the point that it doesn't matter if the virus originated in a lab, a wildlife market or Frozen Food Definitely From Somewhere That Is Not China. Frankly, there is trouble ahead if saying that the Chinese government was responsible by negligence for the covid-19 pandemic is considered racist and banworthy on these forums because at this point discussing it is just discussing current events. If the mods are going to act as a free Great Firewall for the Chinese government they should at least be getting paid for it
