I thought Ghost got healed of her Comic Book Energy Disease by Michelle Pfeiffer at the end of Ant Man & Wasp?

I think that specific scene was just Janet giving her a dose of whatever particles to relieve her pain. That’s why Scott was jumping back in to get more in the post-credits scene. Presumably Ghost will just have to keep receiving doses until they figure out an actual cure.

Maybe that Kara costume needs a CGI cape or something but there's a certain quality about it that doesn't read for me. The muscular abs contrasts with what look like high angular hips and her arms look stretch armstrongy.

I'm hoping that it looks better on-screen because I agree that it looks very clunky

I honestly thought at first that it was for the CW show. Sorry! :cripes:

it's probably gonna get a makeover via CGI and the magic of camera work.

I haven't watched CW in a while but gotta agree that's quite correct. I think with that Supergirl costume it's the fake abs that is not making it work.

SuperMechagodzilla posted:

In the context of the narrative, those ‘friends’ are Stark’s employees. The Avengers were fully privatized some time before the events of Avengers 2.

Stark accepts what he himself describes as a fig leaf of ‘government oversight’ in order to stay operational - and that ‘government oversight’ really means scapegoating those lower-class-coded employee characters (i.e. putting Roma refugee/war orphan Scarlett Witch under house arrest, while making preparations to jail Bruce Banner...).

The events of the movie Civil War represent a conflict within libertarianism, where Steve Rogers’ singleminded “don’t tread on me” pursuit of individual liberty (to conduct clandestine private military operations) runs up against Stark’s own personal profit motive (as the majority shareholder of Stark Industries, which has numerous lucrative government contracts (e.g. the aforementioned Hulk-jail)). The conflict can only occur because Stark is effectively powerful enough to be the government, and jail people.

[Stark is, of course, also very objectiv-ishly motivated by revenge for his parents, who died at the hands of the Soviets.]

I'm a little unsure of that Supergirl costume, but as noted, this is before all the CG and other stuff, so I'd hope it looks better when everything's finished.

I somehow missed/forgot that they cast/were even going to have Supergirl in the movie, so it came as a bit of a pleasant surprise.

I'm still fairly confident that the OT Fagbenie casting is a red herring and the movie's twist will be that that's Rachel Weisz in the Taskmaster suit. It's not a spoiler if it's a hunch, right?

I kind of like the extended patch of red on that Supergirl costume, but it's pretty rough on the whole. I wonder how different it will look in the film proper once it's been smoothed out with CG.

Now I'm wondering if the abs and hip flourishes are part of the harness somehow.. :birdthunk:

I think it still looks like a really low rent CW/Smallville suit tho. That the thing doesn't have the usual TorsoVest+Shoulder breakups is also weird. And no belt or anything to break it up at the mid-section.

I think you're probably right, and it's annoying because Comics Taskmaster is an incredibly fun antagonist. It would be a shame to waste him as as "mute badass who is unmasked for a twist". At least put him in a Deadpool movie or something.

I don’t think he looks that much like Mike Pence, and it’s silly they felt he needed to wear a wig when Keaton looks fine and just as believable as an older Batman with his current hair.

Still drives me nuts that they didn't just make Mary's suit white so they don't have 2 reds. It'd be one thing if the movie set her up as a co-protagonist, but no, it's much more Billy and Freddie's story. (And I figure Sandberg or his costume designer didn't want to do white suit and white cape, and if she has a red cape it makes her the odd one out but... gah!)
