I'm in the same boat. I know I liked the movie but I remember basically nothing about it besides the part where he had to move s--l--o--w--l--y to avoid tripping the motion sensor, because for laughs we used to try to do the same thing with the sensor by the back door of the store I worked at in college.

Note to self: find Sneakers, re-watch.

All of those goodies go inside this

Goodbye to the 68000, hello to 68020 (up to 040 if wanted)

A little bit of Linuxing to make sure all is fine

Everything is run from a 16GB hdf image in my case, but you can setup your own hdfs on there or even just run adfs from a Gotek

I'm a big fan of this; thanks for the photos! Aside from a little yellowing, that hardware is in decent shape.

Now with less breakage.

My entirely new gaming PC has a serial header on the motherboard, and now I'm wondering if still have any of those serial ports you plug into the header and mount in a card slot.
(I'm thinking about making a dual-boot OS selector with a chunky switch and a grub script that reads status bits from the serial port.)

I can see wanting to have a format that has a long playtime for something like a grocery store or hotel, thats basically what Muzak replaced Id guess.
Speaking of 8-track, I was using the production version of those called "Carts" in radio production into the late 1990s/early 2000s.

Went to a local Amiga meet up this afternoon, was good catching up with fellow old computer friends. Did a couple of modifications to the PiStorm setup in my Amiga parts wouldn't short out against other parts.

Also at the meet was a Commodore SDF 1001 floppy drive which came with 5.25" Quad Density floppy disks. DD disks are 48 TPI, HD disks are 96 TPI, Quad Density are 100 TPI. I have never heard about the drive or the disk format until today

It might be disabled in the BIOS by default, you should see COM1/2 in the device manager if they're active.

You can find those brackets+adapter cables on eBay but they're not the most common thing anymore it seems - might have to find the right search phrase to get the cheap ones.
According to this site there are two distinct pinouts to watch out for: https://pinoutguide.com/Motherboard/rs232_header_pinout.shtml

Yeah, I've already enabled it and found the pinout in the motherboard manual. For my purposes, I don't actually need working serial communication, I just need to flip one of the status pins, so it's not super critical right now - but it'd be neat to have working serial at some point.

edit: Heh, 55 NOK - about $5. Now to find a place that doesn't charge twice that in shipping.
edit2: 72 NOK from a place with pickup in the city centre? That'll do.

I remember playing Trade Wars for a few weeks on a Goon Telnet BBS, and despite it already seeming positively absurdly anachronistic to be doing so, I have no doubt I was running XP (or 2000, or ME) when that happened, meaning those memories are likely older now than Trade Wars itself was at that point.

Yes. Got my licence late and was when the first movie came out. Was quite into Japanese cars and tuning so right up my alley. Stupid dumb cars and loud noises. I do however enjoy many forms of film for different reasons.

As an aside, once again you come in being a hater on my posts in more than one thread. Maybe you aren't in threads full of things you actually like?
