It's playing in my hometown over my birthday weekend. I'm legit thinking of flying back to go. I need to see Spiritbox live and Limp Bizkit would be hilarious to see in person* in 2021.

I recently found myself on a Limp Bizkit kick and Three Dollar Bill, Y'all and Chocolate Starfish are both fun as hell records. Also, Fred Durst has one of the best pages on IG.

That will legitimately be one of the funnest tours, I'm also bummed it’s not coming anywhere close

New project featuring members of The Agony Scene, Enterprise Earth, and Lacuna Coil doing the whole grandiose deathcore thing. Pretty good song and I’ve always loved TAS’s vocals so it’s cool to hear them still crushing in a different context.

fred durst deservedly gets some poo poo but borland is a great guitarist and those songs have riffs for days

limp bizkit has to be fun live, there is a 100% chance i'd be giggling like an idiot and headbanging to break stuff or nookie or really any of their material

a) Wes Borland, John Otto and Sam Rivers are legit fairly talented + proficient in their respective instruments. Perhaps not in a "virtuoso" way, but holy smokes did Fred Durst basically hit the jackpot in getting a pretty drat good rhythm section + riff-guy/noisemaker.
b) Saw them once when they came to México. The JUMPDAFUCKUP factor does not stop. Get hydrated or you will not last.

That's both "sure is more BTBAM", but also quite a bit different. I dig it (but I've also liked everything they've done).

BTBAM are one of the best examples of bands who are REALLY great at what they do, but I cannot for the life of me get into. I'll always give new stuff a listen, since Hey New Music, but nothing ever sticks. That said, stoked they're still doing the drat thing and stoked for those of you who dig it

I didn't like colors as much as alaska, and the subsequent albums I liked a lot less, but it'll be interesting to hear if they went back to their roots, because I liked that a lot more.

as the resident btbam fanboy i love literally everything they've ever put out, but my top 3 are Colors, Coma, and Alaska in that order and I would LOVE another one in the style of Alaska

did you listen to any of the remix/remasters they've put out over the last few years? They did r/r's of everything up to and including The Great Misdirect, it really breathes life into some of those old albums with Jamie King having another 20 years of experience. Colors is my favorite album of all time period and the r/r of it somehow made it even better

edit: vvv hell yeah! the whole thing sounds loving crisp and great, alaska's production had never been my favorite so i'm glad it got a touch up. All Bodies, Autodidact, & Backwards Marathon all sound loving killer

Alaska has always been peak BTBAM for me. I didn't know about the remasters - listening to it on just YouTube of all crappy things, and it sounds *so* much better than my high quality CD rips that I made myself.

The pig vocals on "Croakies And Boatshoes" really stand out.

Literally every btbam album is at least a 9/10 for me, and though they're heavy in kind of a different way now, I always appreciate a band that's constantly evolving and moving forward like they do.

Also metal or no Coma Ecliptic is one of the greatest prog rock albums of all time :colbert:

What's up with Bury Your Dead? They released that EP in October 2019 and kinda teased that they had more music coming. Covid hit obv but they've been pretty silent.

I need some more of those crunchy riffs.

I haven’t checked out the complete remasters but everything past Silent Circus already sounded pretty drat pristine to me. Not a band that I would’ve pegged as needing remasters but I’ll check them out at some point.

Alaska was/is so good and there’s nothing that really sounds like it. I slightly prefer Colors overall but we’ve also gotten about 4 and a half albums that expand on its sound already. Not that I’m complaining, everything they’ve done is fantastic even if I didn’t connect with anything past Parallax quite as much.

I like everything BTBAM does but people get way too excited about what’s ultimately just an album title.

For me:
  • Alaska
  • Colors I
  • The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues
  • The Silent Circus
  • Coma Ecliptic.
I like their other stuff, but those are the slappiest of slappy records in them BTBAMers' catalogue.

maybe, but the related albums in their catalog already have a lot of references and cool modifications and call backs ("walking into a certain state" from the parallaxes, a shitload of minor variations on riffs throughout the automatas, etc)

obviously it's going to be very different material from people who have aged another ~15 years but the potential for throwbacks to iconic riffs from colors is really neat I think!
