Getting some Ion Fury vibes from the pixel art and the colored sector lighting. It has potential at least.

Looks like I'm gonna have a bad time trying to make out the enemies from the surroundings. They pretty much blend with the map textures. The scenery does look cool though. Would rethink the font for the dialog screens.

That was what I was thinking haha. When it showed a whole bunch of fodder enemies going down the ramp I was going "oh no not Hard Reset again" then it got good.

...rough day at the orifice.
I just picked up Chaser because it's $1 right now so why not. Annoying hitscanners with no reaction time but they drop medkits so it's not too bad. It's full of interesting design decisions like "switching weapons takes probably longer than just reloading," "[epilepsy cutscene]," "scoping fires a burst but hip fire gives you complete control," and "basically everything is reflective for some reason maybe they were really proud of this shader" but for coffee money it's pretty decent. Apparently there's some connection to Bohemia Interactive but the wiki is kind of vague.

Also got Dark Messiah which should be a good time and the first Call of Juarez which probably will not be.

I started to play Total Chaos a while ago but ended up just watching the end on YouTube. It's pretty impressive. Turbo Overkill chaingun looks really cool.

Total Chaos (or Turbo Overkill or whatever) and Beyond Sunset look sweet for sure. Hopefully there are hotties (or "waifus") to talk to in Beyond Sunset, or the dialogue system is a total waste, and a sham.

We're talking about a man who is successful with the ladies here. Detective Chaz Sunset. Robin "Turbo" Williamson. Just some feedback for the devs. Also can their be a villainess in a bathtub or something like SiN. I don't feel like these games are retro enough for me, I want it to be like Fear Effect up in here. These shooters aren't remotely horny. Actually while we're at it, I'd rather it just be like a first person Leisure Suit Larry adventure, I'm kind of tired of slicing and shooting everybody. More of a lover than a fighter. The Fonz is both.

I want this game to have a cool apartment like in Shogo. Don't make it look like there's RPG elements if I'm just talking to some guy to open a door. I can ask to get buzzed into the bathroom in a Boston restaurant if I want that.

I used a trackball on the Mac version and it made me an unstoppable god, since movement speed was tired to hire quickly the ball rolled (there may have been an upper limit, but it was very fast nonetheless).

I played Prodeus and if the devs of the game are out there, listening, thank you sincerely from the bottom of my heart for allowing 800x600 resolution. Its the only way I can get stable framerates and no matter whatever negatives I may say some day understand that fundamentally that is only possible because I can actually play the game.

There has to be a way to remove weapons from my mouse scroll in Prodeus. I see this "loadout" box in between missions but it doesn't let me get rid of the double machine pistols, a weapon that just makes it harder for me to switch between actually useful guns.

About the length of a typical one episode EA shooter + some pretty good community levels. Took me about 4 - 5 hours to get through the official maps and then I've spent a few more on custom maps. It feels very feature complete although there are some new weapons on the horizon

Prodeus, please, I don't want these other guns. Let me get rid of them and if I truly want them use the Q menu to pull them up. Maps so far are very tech-base+doom 3's first expansion. Actual models are a huge step down from the sprites, something about how smooth they look/move versus background.

I just want to try the Debloom mod and I hated dealing with Origin.

I had two problems with it, the first was that the mouse options were poo poo and I had to gently caress around in the config files to get them feeling decent, and the second was that there was so much bloom that it hurt my eyes to play the game. It was so ridiculously over the top, I don't know what they were thinking. It's often nigh-impossible to see what's going on.

There is a part very early on, like tutorial early, where a light shines around from an attack helicopter iirc. It exists solely to tell you "we got more bloom than an outback steakhouse onion" and they aren't lying

It was a bug in the PC version, console copies didn't play as if you were a glaucoma sufferer.

Barudak

However Prodeus is coded it does not like it when your computer decides that even at 800x600 its gonna have a heart attack and drop the frames to about ~5 or so per second because the enemy AI just... breaks. I assume its assigned to do its thinking/check for behavior updates on some amount of frame counts or something but it just sits there completely unable to react until you shoot it, only one AI can be active at a time seemingly, and most enemies seem incapable of ever starting their attack pattern.

I also have lots of map thoughts about Prodeus but my god it needs some color. I need something. The best visual effect in the game so far has been in its dead simple knock off level where you start it and there is color other than Red, Black, and Blue for a moment and that color is Grey. I got visually excited by Grey.

A very minor thing I really love is the starting pistol has a 3 round burst. Each bullet is exactly as strong as a regular bullet fired from it, which already, I love you, thank you devs. The real meat though is humans take 1 burst + 1 bullet and Imps 2 bursts + 1 bullet to kill. A single bullet fired comes out faster than another burst. So for speed and efficiency you get into a rythm of burst->single and burst->burst->single to get through enemies.

I don't think it was ever released on Steam, it might have been origin only - I bought the physical version in about 2015 for very cheap and that came with an origin key, which I guess if those are still floating around and you don't mind origin too much is consolation.
