r u ready to WALK posted:what i the macbook pro has a buttery keyboard they've moved on from the bad jony era keyboard and the current ones are fine my 2015 mbp still runs just fine, although the battery life is getting rather short after years of regular use. if the arm macbooks weren't so enticing i'd probably just pay the $200 to have it replaced and use it until updates are stopped or it dies

apple things are designed to sell other apple things like how no headphone jack is to sell airpods and so the Mac keyboard is to sell more apple wireless keyboards

someone did a bunch of benchmarks comparing different updates of windows 10 and basically confirmed that it's gotten shittier and shittier over time https://ntdotdev.wordpress.com/2021/02/21/state-of-the-windows-part-2-did-windows-10-slow-down-with-each-feature-update/

Not individual apps. It’s to open a bunch of apps at the same time. There’s a vid of each benchmark linked in the article

have some pretty severe doubts about methodology overall, as likely as not to be stuff like first-time setup background tasks being paced differently in different versions. a bit different is one thing, but a 3x increase in the time to launch win32 apps is not so much worrying as suspicious. some tests being really dumb does not help the believability, e.g. launching explorer windows until they use up the gdi handle pool, which first and foremost tests if explorer allocates more handles in newer versions (and if it does it'll lead to "improved" numbers).

I love vim but if i were a young coder just starting out and had to choose between it and vscode it seems obvious i'd choose vscode because it's features are more discoverable and stuff like lsp works out of the box.
