Potato Salad posted:what's the OSHA bit? no harness and helmet? Old post, but my one OSHA story is one time I (American) was in Canada and using a scissor lift to wire something up and I wasn't wearing a helmet so I was told to get down and put on a vest and helmet before going back up. I apologized and told them that I didn't realize it was required because in the US it isn't strictly required. And they told me that it is because my country doesn't love me or care about my health. And I agreed. How many boners happened on that trip? CmdrRiker fucked around with this message at 02:40 on Jun 28, 2021 |

lol that happened a half block away from the apartment I lived in at the time. It was at the gas station at like 100th and holman road. Just absolutely stunned that they got going that fast in that particular direction. It's not a very drivin fast friendly area.

Absolutely, and it might not even be a seat that can be installed rear-facing, so whoever installed it is like 0/3 on "things you need to do to stop a kid dying".

Looking at the remains of the ribbon around the side mirror and the lack of plates, I think that might be someone's birthday present. Someone who should not be driving.

It's me, I'm a guy who didn't know how to latch a baby in. I was babysitting for a few days not too long ago and had to call the parents in a panic as I could not get the drat seat to latch in. Dad seemed bemused as "it should just snap in", turns out I was trying to face the baby forwards. They where incredulous; how could I not know this? Mate, I'm 38 and have never been in a car with baby before, not even in my youth. This is all new stuff! I suppose the difference between that twitter pic and myself is that I'm not trying to kill the baby.

poo poo POST MALONE posted:It's loving crazy that parents would leave you with a child and an uninstalled car seat in the first place lmfao You misunderstand; the car 'seat' was installed, but had a detachable bassinet for the infant. There is only one proper way to click the bassinet into the installed base, but being the genius that I am I was firmly doing it backwards and it was sliding around in a very clear 'this isn't working' manner. I agree however that the parents are absolute fools to entrust me with anything living. Maybe because I didn't kill their older child a few year previous, but that strikes me as some sort of gambler's fallacy. The OSHA part of all of this is the bioweapon nature of daycare centres, if they didn't already exist they'd never get approved in the modern day.

Either way when I let my parents take my son in their car for the first time I made sure to tell them exactly how to install the car seat and base for it and made sure to specify that we are still putting it rear facing (current seat can be front or back facing). Never assume someone knows the proper way to do it especially when it comes to child safety. I'd rather someone tells me something I already know than risk getting it wrong.
