Aren’t quite a few of them flooded though? I seem to recall that being an issue after they had been abandoned.

That just means you don't need to worry about water supply, it's pre-installed with a filled well.

There's a youtube channel of a guy restoring one. It has some great OSHA content including them exploring it and realizing their voice pitch has changed because they are in a pocket of stagnant air that could poison them.

They test reading comprehension more than math, really. Reading comprehension is important, but it's not math. Word problems were my favorite because they were often worth more per question than the straight problems, the actual math operations being asked for were usually simple, and my reading comprehension was great.

Reading comprehension is the basis of everything, really. If a kid can't read a problem and understand what he's being asked to do, he can't do math, or chemistry, or physics, or wood shop, or auto repairs, or pretty much anything else.

It's why every subject area also stresses reading comprehension (word problems).

:same:

there would also only be 2 to 4 of them instead of like 20 so I wouldn't have to do much actual math

Yeah reading ability correlates more strongly with success in other subject areas than any other subject does, for a bunch of reasons but partly because it helps people to do well on assessments.

If you want to assess a kids ability in any area, sit and talk with them for a couple of minutes while they do a relevant task. Don't give them a written test.

There’s an intact Titan II silo preserved as a museum near Tucson. They’re surprisingly small. Been in every nook and cranny of that one, it’s a great tour if you like that stuff. The support stuff is all done at the nearby air base, so there is actually not a whole lot at the actual silo locations.

They act all secretive about silo locations, it’s funny. They’re not secret at all. We know where they all are. Secret nukes are the ones in subs.

The early videos are a great "What NOT to do" tutorial. Unshored excavations, near drownings when said unshored excavation fills with water after the several ton door they have just blowtorched suddenly opens, exploring the freshly opened silo with no proper PPE, gas meters, or air quality testing.

Haven't watched more than the first couple, so not sure if they get better or worse.

Exploration is ill-advised.

The joke likely isn't just that, but the original cartoons have both share the same voice actor, doing pretty much the same voice (plus/minus an electronic filter) and an obviously thinly veiled Cobra Commander actually makes a guest appearance in a later episode of The Transformers. (as 'Old Snake', probably no relation)

Out of curiosity I looked up some numbers on uxo&co here. What I found with a quick search is pretty interesting.

The state of Bavaria used ~ 3 million € to destroy 72 000 kg of found bombs and munitions in 2017 (I don't have earlier data).

Their equipment doesn't have the kind of bombastic branding as displayed here and they also don't do poo poo like this…

Is there some particular reason they had to detonate all 5000 pounds in one go, or was it just a "let's throw it all in at once and see what happens :munch:" thing?
