cyberpunk is the real gsg gap imo taiwan and palestine make modern gsg impracticable and the mods themselves will be a shitshow because of this but a pre stellar travel post planetary travel w megacorps dealio is ripe for a gsg

bob dobbs is dead posted:cyberpunk is the real gsg gap imo Well, any modern GSG is going to have to find a way to model NGOs and sub-state actors anyway, so Palestine can share a physical space with Israel and use that system unless a 2 state system is enacted in game. And I don't see any difficulties with Taiwan other than not being able to sell in China. But aren't most paradox games banned in china anyway?

I imagine the leaders of interest groups will be a preview of 'this is who the president/prime minister will be in a democracy if this interest group wins' or 'this is who the head of state will be if this interest group leads a successful revolt', primarily, and since leaders are modeled, it makes some sense to model potential leaders. But yes I do enjoy the little people.

A possible solution would just be to make Political parties purely a cosmetic detail. The game could just check which interest groups are in power in the government, check against a list of potential party names that fits the coalition of groups in power, then spit out an appropriate political party that appears on a menu and doesn't do anything.

the other big gap in gsg land which peeps were conjecturing would happen in the paradoxcon before we knew it was vicky3 was fantasy gsg. one possible extremely elegant solution is just to have both cyberpunk and fantasy, and have shadowrun gsg. there's history written up to 2072 for it too

to properly vote, the voter must draw an obvious picture of the candidate. all future candidates begin wearing more and more outlandish hats and moustaches to be recognizable, and by the end of the era, drawings of candidates are just of moustache wearing an enormous hat

I'm interested in how the nuances of the interest groups are going to play out like this. The Intelligentsia are probably going to be the most capital-L Liberal folks out there, right? Free* speech, free* elections, all that. I wonder how their interests might coincide or diverge from say, the Industrialists or the Petty Bourgeoisie. (*Unless you're poor or socialist or whatever)

I just hope political parties don't end up like the ethos factions in Stellaris. Very inflexible and try to boil down incredibly broad ideologies into a few unchanging hyper-specific demands that are the same every game regardless of the context. If Wiz and crew can figure out a dynamic political party system that always feels it makes sense given the mix of interests and current situation then I'm very excited. If they can't pull it off though, I'd rather they not.

Maybe at least do some randomly generated ruler names. Larger than life head of states were kinda a big thing in the 19th century. It would add some flavor to the game to the game.

Replaying around in Vicky II. You know what I want? Better stats. I wish the end of the game offered more than "score in 1936." I really liked how the early Total War games had that line graph where you could track the history of all the states. I think a more detailed end screen would be cool, especially as Vicky was one of the few Paradox games I regularly got to the "end" of

My half-baked idea would be that political parties might start off kind of like this, but become kind of "sticky" over time, where interest groups who want similar or compatible things that end up in government or out of government together gain a kind of affinity to one another, to make lasting allegiances where the industrialists and the intelligentsia are both in the Liberal Party and will be reluctant to make coalitions with groups from other factions. Maybe with mechanics to model the ebb and flow of partisanship, including pops potentially seeing themselves as Socialist Party members first and Trade Unionists second if partisanship is high.
