BigFactory posted:It’s possible the show didn’t sell very well at the bigger venue and there will be no problem transferring tickets? Extremely unlikely at this point. I already contacted both Ticketmaster and the new venue and they’re both saying pretty clearly so far that my tickets won’t transfer over. If they were going to, you’d think they’d have worked that out before the new show or sale date for tickets were announced (Presale for it is tomorrow, general sale Friday) or that it’d be mentioned literally anywhere. They’re being treated as completely separate shows.

Just to provide an ending to this, I predictably got an email today, 24 hours after the various pre-sales for the new show started and less than 24 hours before the general sale starts, that "your event has been cancelled" and I'll get a refund for my tickets originally purchased just before COVID became a thing last year.

Gotta say, I'm liking the new Styx album. I know they've been criticized for veering too much towards pop power ballads and commercialism, but this album is nice and proggy. http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=72653

I’ve ever considered them anything more than power pop from the beginning. Even in the DeYoung years. They have had some fun songs though.

Styx, much like Genesis, is a progressive pop band. Nothing wrong with that.

Rick Wakeman played the organ a bunch, so almost all classic Yes songs have it.

also pre-Wakeman Yes, almost moreso. Tony Kaye played a shitload of organ Uriah Heep Focus Van Der Graaf Generator (though the organ can get outshined by the saxes sometimes) early Genesis Kansas really, it's easier to name groups that didn't have organ at least somewhere in the mix

Pretty much any prog band of the early 70s used a lot of organ. Keith Emerson of The Nice and ELP. He was known mostly for his moog playing, but he did play a lot of organ as well. All of the Yes keyboardists played organ. Tony Kaye pretty much only plays the organ. Tony Banks of Genesis used a lot of organ on the early Genesis albums. The hammond was a big part of their signature sound in the early days. John Evan of Jethro Tull played a lot of hammond organ and for awhile the band had two keyboardists at the same time, with Dee Palmer on portative pipe organ Richard Wright used a lot of organ on Pink Floyds earlier albums Thijs Van Leer of Focus played both the organ and flute, both with amazing skill Gianthogweed fucked around with this message at 04:07 on Jun 29, 2021 |

I feel like smoking with Snoop would be just downright intimidating but Alex would probably just want to jam for a few hours then go absolutely feral on some snacks and a bottle of semi fancy wine. When I was like 13 or 14 I carried around a piece of paper in my wallet that had the home addresses of the guys from rush. Just in case I was ever in the Toronto suburbs and wanted to do some stalking. I got them back when AOL first let you go on to “The Internet”, on some bulletin board called like syrinx.edu. It was definitely hosted from a college somewhere. I never found out if the addresses were real or not but I kept that piece of paper in my wallet for years. Like I think I had it when I started college at least. And I’m pretty sure I had song lyrics on the back side. Might have been to the Pass or something else kind of meaningful when you’re 14. Although my favorite story about Alex was when someone went to like interview him? and they got stoned and listened to a mini disc of Alice In Chains dirt in his Cadillac boat parked in his driveway. He had big clear plastic seat covers like an old lady. BigFactory fucked around with this message at 02:01 on Jul 9, 2021 |
