Looks like we're extending for at least another week.Nam Taf posted:Maybe I’ll lorem ipsum it tomorrow and upload it because I’m curious as to your thoughts, since I think in only b&w it looks less readable. I'd love it if you could send it my way as well for a look in. I'm basically a jack of all trades these days with sales, accounts, and admin experience - with a previous history as an IT Engineer. Always find it difficult to be succinct with my skill set. Appreciate the help lads.

When you've got multiple skill sets to cover, I'd recommend tailoring the resume to the job you're applying for. Yes, it's an annoying time consuming thing to have to deal with but by highlighting the qualifications/experiences you have that are relevant to that particular job, you're making it easy for the hiring manager to quickly see why you're a good fit for the job and not leaving it to them to have to go hunting through your career history to figure that out. For example, I've got a postgrad degree in business/psychology and I've worked in IT, telecommunications, government, mental health, and the disability and community service sectors. Within those areas I've done marketing, HR, sales, customer service, stakeholder relations and complaints management. Depending on what sort of role I'm applying for, I'll remove details from one less important part of my resume and add more into a relevant part to show transferable skills or talk about projects I've worked on that reflect similar things in the job description.

This is the real best advise right here. Even within a specialisation make sure you write your CV/covering letter tailored to the job you are applying for. Example, I'm in IT and have done heaps of different generalist/specialist roles. If I'm applying for a specialist role I take the time to tailor my CV a bit to the skills or products listed in the JD. I have dozens of cover letters and CV's in the same vein, tailored to (and this sounds silly but works) exactly what the JD asks for. Examples of times I did X with Y and how this correlates to what they've asked for - even cribbing the words they've used themselves. Going to this effort has got me interviews for jobs I have no right applying for.

The online ATO mygov thing also lets you set fairly reasonable payment schedules too across up to two years when I set it up. Also all the resume advice seems good, I also go with a 2 pager just put references on request at the end cause they only want that after you've got an offer generally.

My daughter used to work in the ATO section that handles it. They look for total repayment within two years in addition to you remaining current with your ongoing tax obligations. They can go outside those guidelines sometimes, but they usually don't.

I owe a buck and 15 cents from the 19-20 financial year somehow despite not having earned enough to pay tax for 4 years now so I should knock that over

Another pro-tip for jobseekers, update your voice message on your phone if it's currently you and your drunken mates abusing each other. Partner just rejected a guy for a manager role after calling to offer him a job and getting that on his voice mail on his current work mobile of all things.

I had me singing the chorus for 'ring ring' by De La Soul as my voicemail for years while I was applying for jobs and never thought twice about the fact that I probably could have gotten out of bar work a decade earlier if I'd changed it because the bar managers all loved it but I'm sure HR sorts absolutely would have considered it a deal breaker and I applied for a lot of chain bottleshop and supermarket jobs in that time for sure

Also it's annoying that NSW Health are so lax with their daily updates. Vic DH updates at 9am on the dot every day but NSW Health dicks around every morning and maybe updates around 11am-ish. Get your act together. (My assumption is that they're trying to avoid the morning news cycles)

very cool and hilarious that i have been audited in the past for claiming too much tax return and then so many businesses pay zero but whoopsie we dont know how to catch them! like how is it worth their time chasing me over 5k when rupert owes presumably billions in taxes over the last 10 years.

also you couldn't afford to lobby the government to make the laws pertaining to you super lax. Really it's your fault tbh

I know why its just dumb. like why not make the tax dept exempt from court costs to chase this poo poo? if Murdoch wants to fight it, it costs him money, not the ATO. make corporate tax based on turnover on australian soil, not profits they can shuffle around and hide in tax havens.

I've been working from home for a year and you're allowed to claim 80c per hour in the "shortcut method" which is over $1000. I don't have time sheets or anything, but I'm going to give it a crack

Last years spell of online learning was probably the hardest I've had to work since becoming a teacher because not only was it setting all of the work and stuff but also checking submitted answers. I tried my best to make work that was engaging but its not easy when its a practical subject. Theres also a level of knowing what kids are up to when you're teaching face to face that gets stripped away when it ends up being online . I'll have to wait till later today to find out what's actually happening though cause I'm sure the principal knows as much as the public does at this point in time

A bunch of cop prosecutors are in isolation cause someone was at the Roma st building with the corona so none of my paperwork was filed and I got deferred for 3 weeks which is a huge L cause I just want to be done with it. I found this out at 11.30 because the judge was late due to a fresh delivery of croissants. The legal system kicks rear end
