Do Chinese people call that style of dress a "Mao suit"? A quick google seems to suggest they call it 中山装 or Zhongshan suit.

A specific color of zhongshan suit can be referred to as "Mao suit". I got to agree that color is Mao.

Tbh I'm mostly just waiting to see when the Saudis extend recognition / support to the gov, because Iran has been sort of conciliatory towards the Afghani Taliban since the US withdrawal was announced but that will change very quickly if the Saudis start sending them money

Seems to me bribes from US contractors to get safely from one place to another as well as captured equipment is more than enough to fund the level of insurgency the Taliban were running.

The Saudis were one of the first countries to recognize them as the official government in that brief period pre-2002 invasion and have a history of sending them money / arms. They stopped recently because of conflicts with qatar and US pressure mounting but I can see that starting up again with the withdrawal and Qatar relations thawing out The various Saudi royal families love throwing money at extremist sunni groups too tbh so

There was an article I read about the end of the Afghanistan occupation, arguing it failed because NATO was just too ambitious in its goal to civilise the savages. Also it recapped the start of the mission as retaliation for 9/11 while managing to never mention Saudi Arabia. Reading it you would be forgiven to think bin Laden was Taliban. The fourth pillar of democracy baby!!!

The Taliban sucks but an end to constant warfare and China investing in Afganistan's national infrastructure will do more for the country than decades of trying to get rid of the Taliban did.

Lol god remember when they did like a small amount of research and they basically pinpointed the exact Saudi prince that bankrolled 9/11 but they were an ally and bush wanted to invade Iraq so that got very quietly hidden away
