I couldn't get into 2 at all. The driving was just absolutely wretched. Dude and his combat yoyo just bored me. If I wanted to drive RC cars or fly a drone I can get one on amazon.

I at least finished 1, but that's not saying much.

I mostly liked 2 a lot because I was vibing on the whole SF aesthetic so much, but I also had some friends and memories as a young punk doing misdemeanors and having big ideas much like the core group.

The protagonist of Watch Dogs 1 was so unpleasant I was actually rooting for him to die at the end. Marcus in Watch Dogs 2 is awesome on the otherhand.

Watch Dogs 1 also had some really obvious moments where a scene from an earlier draft of the story was left into the game, and it gave some scenes with his sister and nephew a really weird vibe because it really seems like an earlier draft of the script had them being divorced spouses instead of siblings.

Watch Dogs 3 is straight garbage.

The supposedly funny AI dialog being written by Yahtzee and successful as you expect should explain a lot(the review on the escapist that attempted to be snarky about the game being poo poo while being a cog in the machine was a bit pathetic). Much like far cry 5, when Ubisoft tries to tackle real modern issues, it usually holds back too much.

Nope, it was ANSI. Many of the characters in that design aren't in the ASCII character set.

I even remember liking that art style in the game and never looking it up.

Bland game with the usual awful Ubisoft writing, entire mission arc in the middle that leads to nothing and kills pacing, unlikable scumbag protagonist who is both the source of all his own problems in the game and yet utterly convinced he is the victim, weird ableism around a dude putting an evil master villain cause his one leg got busted and now he needs a leg brace, general aura of racism, weird sex-trafficking plot that goes nowhere and becomes just another collectable, privacy invasion mission that just reveals everyone in the city is a monster and consistently has at least one foot in Dark and Edgy poo poo Man, main character very clearly used to be an estranged husband instead of a brother leading to weird poo poo with his son-nephew, uuuuuuuh bland gameplay whose hacking is just a general fancy use button, etc.

Chip Cheezum has an excellent LP of the first game if you're curious.

Sometimes the game seemed to be joining me in bagging on him for pretending to be batman rather than dealing with his problems like an adult. Other times it took itself entirely seriously.

I was once working in Indonesia with an American-Indonesian coworker who had cousins there and his cousin and his girlfriend picked us up to go out to dinner. They were nice but the cousin's English was not that great and my Bahasa was pretty basic, but the dude was a fairly awesome greaser/hipster and for some reason when were in the car he turned to us and was like "hey, America! Good America! Good porn! Do you like the porn? Vivid Video, ha ha!"

I thought it was hilarious but my coworker was super Christian and deeply uncomfortable about it.
