Honestly, I guess it kind of sucks that Space Jam 2 stinks. I respect LeBron as a celebrity activist and auteur in the sense he hasn't done anything that raised my eyebrow. Like, I'll blame Obama mostly for Obama convincing him to walk back on the NBA strike. He opened that school that wasn't a bullshit charter school. And he knew not to weigh in on Hong Kong. I guess there's a lot you can scrutinize about him to paint him in a less flattering light, but on the surface he seems to better than most rich celebrities or athletes who've been outspoken on things.

Last I heard Space Jam 2 is also bombing at the box office, though I could be wrong. WB already did the IP orgy thing at least twice with The Lego Movie and The Lego Batman Movie. It's got diminishing returns, the high wears off and people stop coming back for an endless series of sequels to The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny that just do the same thing over and over.

You have to meet double that to be expected to be a success. It's not a bust but definitely a disappointment. The bigger budget movies are going to suffer unless they have name recognition (F9, Godzilla vs Kong) so this year is going to be really interesting for Disney given they're releasing Eternals and Shang-Chi, two Marvel movies featuring characters never seen or discussed in the MCU at all.

I did not regret it. There's something special about being in a jampacked theater where nobody can hear the movie over people laughing so hard they're crying
