That's the oddest supergroup lineup I've ever seen. I want an instrumental with Yo-Yo ma playing the vocal melody, his two small parts just made me want more of it. Guess I'll go have to play Apocalyptica's take again.

20 years of Opeth's Blackwater Park. Opeth became a pretty heavily played-out thing in the metal community where Opeth fans almost became as annoying as Tool fans (unfortunately, I am both). However I think it's worth acknowledging that era of Opeth (Still Life, Blackwater Park, Ghost Reveries) was pretty drat unique for it's time, and even today whenever a band does cool weird chords in metal, it can't help but feel a BIT Opeth-ish. They're a band with many imitators, but none of those imitators were able to take the Opeth thing and nail it like they did. So hey! Cheers to a legit killer album (even though I prefer Still Life) which I would argue changed things in metal for a bit, and definitely put Opeth on the list of metal's legendary, but often hated bands.

A few weeks ago, Sleep Token released the first track from their upcoming album "This Place Will Become Your Tomb" It's called Alkaline https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uU5vVT_Cp7c They are quickly becoming one of my favorite bands. The members are anonymous, they wear masks while performing. Most of the tracks start out calm and quiet, but end up in a whole other place. A good example of this is Higher: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhoSDCVb4n0 The vocalist is known as "Vessel". He has an incredible voice and range of sounds he can produce. At least they're all in a row. I don't mind the long tracks but the placement in Book of Souls is so awkward that you just kind of forget entire sections of the album by the time you get to the end, in this instance you can kind of treat it like two halves of an album.

Oh man Weapon!! I saw them a long time ago opening up for I believe 1349 and Marduk. I was blown away and bought their CD Drakonian Paradigm. Crazy to see em mentioned here!! Also the guys in 1349 stank so loving bad - I swear they pissed in their pants. E: found it, 2012

That weapon album is the one I always saw in distro stacks at shows/fests. I always pulled it out and considered buying it, but always had a nagging feeling I might own it already. Then after that happened like ten times I finally remembered to check if I had it......and I already had two copies.
