one thing in impact i'm low key a bigger fan of is that i like "knockouts division" more than "women's division". it always struck me as more inclusive of, say, non-binary performers. though i don't think they've ever had any so maybe that's a moot point.

I remember when TNA first started, on their website they had the wrestlers all listed under "Superstars" and WWE sent them a cease and desist, saying they only they could use the term "Superstars" to describe their wrestlers. Knockouts is better than Divas though.

Though to be fair, if anyone actually cared about the accuracy of the division name, Sonny Kiss could absolutely rock a "Divas division". Has any lucha promotion ever had a belt/division specifically set aside for exoticos?

QT Marshall on the Major Wrestling Figure Podcast was very funny. It's mostly about what an obsessive kid he was making custom action figures but he let's slip a few stories. The night of the concussion protocol meeting at All Out he asks Cody if he should attend and Cody responds "no, you aren't a wrestler." He tells this story right after saying he figured he could go on this show and not get in any trouble for saying too much.

Thought this was interesting from today's WO updatequote:Backroad Entertainment is working on a pro wrestling show which they describe as a cross between Last Chance U and Ultimate Fighter. They are looking for independent wrestlers with a few years experience but have had a rough go with getting noticed and making it. They are also looking for people with interesting family histories or with personal issues they are trying to overcome. The show includes being picked for the cast and being trained by Dustin Rhodes in August in Austin, TX. For those interested, this is the application to fill out.

TNA did themselves no favors and your interpretation of the name reflects a more nuanced view from a company who's name was designed as a sex joke with the Knockouts division being deep the Russo era and treated as such.

its cynical to imply I'm not being sincere in the thing I said. I think using a name other than "women" is a good idea. clearly this specific company has baggage with it, but that's unrelated to my feelings on it as a concept.
