People actually put that ice in drinks? I always assumed it was utterly filthy, you just fill up a bucket and then put cans of coke or whatever in it. I even used to rinse off the cans when I took them out of the ice.

In another scene, a shotgun is supposed to be knocked out of the hand of a character, but it falls to pieces. They just ignore it and keep going. This sort of thing happened a LOT in that show.

I mean, I use the ice too but as a former Starbucks manager who was dutiful about cleaning the ice machine every month, they can and do get nasty. Black mold and pink slime are the two most common contaminants. If you're into discovering ugly truths, take a clean paper towel and reach into and above the ice holding area and wipe whatever you can reach. Unless it's a super clean hotel, the towel will have grey/black or pink on it. I regret to inform you that ice machines are kinda gross, unless they are regularly turned off and disinfected. The temperature in the compartment where ice cubes are stored isn’t low enough to stop bacteria, just slows em down. I’ve seen machines with a thick layer of mildew on the inside.

Back in the 80s and 90s it always felt like that ice was for refilling your cooler since the rooms didn't have mini fridges.

I'm looking for an online reference for different kind of styles, from the average blue collar, to high society of various time periods, spanning from the 19th to the 21st century I want to do some fashion designs in my comic, but don't know where to start to see what people were wearing. If people do know, what did meth labs look like in the 1940s? Or people making cocaine? I want to have gangsters but the kind where I grew up, burnouts with no teeth and blowing up a new abandon house every few years. What did those people look like back then?

Why is grooved pavement apparently dangerous to motorcycles? Whenever they strip the asphalt off the highway for repaving they have these 'GROOVED PAVEMENT' signs with a motorcyclist on them.

Kaiser Schnitzel posted:Why is grooved pavement apparently dangerous to motorcycles? Whenever they strip the asphalt off the highway for repaving they have these 'GROOVED PAVEMENT' signs with a motorcyclist on them. I'm not a motorcyclist, but from some quick research: if the grooves are aligned with the direction of travel (i.e. longwise, not crosswise), then the bike will tend to want to steer aligned with the grooves, which can screw with your handling. Think like riding a bicycle across a metal drain grating. Apparently the grooves created by stripping asphalt can also be irregular both in width and depth, which makes the effect they have on handling harder to predict.

Sometimes you can even feel it in a car, the steering can get a little squishy as the tires try to fall in line with their own grooves

If people do know, what did meth labs look like in the 1940s? Mostly people back then extracted meth from Benzedrine inhalers and tablets. Antihistamines weren’t readily available until the late 1940s, and with actual amphetamines being sold over the counter, there was no need to make meth out of antihistamines. As for cocaine, the general consensus is that what was used in the US between 1940 and 1970 was either diverted from medical supplies (shady dentists figure in a lot of discussions about cocaine, from journalism to moral panic propaganda to reportage and fiction about drug use) or brought by individual entrepreneurs and users from Peru (see this Woodrow Wilson Center report, for example). Sometimes people in the US got cocaine from Mexico, but that almost always originated in Peru. Edit to add: if you can find a copy of the book Hepcats, Narcs, and Pipe Dreams by Jill Jonnes, it’s extremely well researched and a good read despite its ridiculous title. It definitely feels weird as hell on a motorcycle, the grooves tend to wiggle back and forth and they carry you with them. Generally you can just proceed carefully through them but it doesn't feel nice.

Yeah meth gets cooked out of sudafed/pseudoephedrine which is a decongestant and stimulant and close chemical relative of amphetamines. It is often combined with an antihistamine (Claritin-D, Allegra-D, etc)in a single pill to make your allergies feel better, but it is not an antihistamine. The actual antihistamine (the allegra or claritin) keeps your body from relaesing the histamines that make you congested and sneezy; the sudafed shrinks your blood vessels and stuff to make you become uncongested and has the added benefit of making you feel pretty peppy (and potentially raising your blood pressure a whole lot). tuyop posted:Justwatch. I’m not sure, but there are enough ways to transfer money that it would probably only work as a stopgap measure. Most of the big gacha games have dedicated customer service departments that reach out to big spenders with freebies if they show signs of wanting to quit, so watch out for that. I would suggest getting professional treatment for a gambling addiction and deleting your accounts. Tally up what you have spent and and predict what another year will do - you very likely can afford proper treatment. Good luck, you can do it if you put some effort in!

The cool thing about massive ear drum holes is that the skin isn't taut so it just wildly flaps out of control giving you this horrible wind tunnel sound effect whenever there is a percussive sound. Including when you chew or open your jaw. Also your heart beat sometimes makes it flap too if your blood pressure in your head is high because you were exercising or maybe just laying down.
