Fantastic Four Annual #2, 1964 I... can't even begin to process the number of logical problems with this theory. Are Kang and Doom high? They sound like they're high.

Busiek fixes that in Avengers Forever. Kang hints they might be the same man to manipulate Doom.

Those spies are so loving envious of those dead people with their robust undeformed skeletons. "Look at this lucky prick. His skull was higher than his shoulderblades."

Oh, geez, there's a 22 issues cross over event (X of Swords) that explains it all. Tl;dr: Half of Krakoa was sent to another dimension to fight a bunch of evil over there. Along with the island went Apocalypse's wife and kids. They became a warlike society. There was a fight between and the mutants of Earth, Apocalypse on the side of Krakoa. Now that's all settled, this group is having trouble integrating with the mutants on Krakoa, so they went off and settled Mars (except for some diplomatic buildings) and the planet has been renamed to the name of their half of the island, Arakko. Apocalypse and his wife were able to reconnect and are now a happy family.

I'm so glad they're finally doing the whole "Mutants meet the galaxy as equals" thing and have been for a while now. Reading comics as a kid, I always wanted them to just say "gently caress it" to humanity and make their own country and just leave humanity behind, except for diplomatic relations and stuff. Of course, we did get that briefly, with Genosha. Then Morrison killed everyone. Also, Asteroid M. It's going to be so sad when it all this turns to poo poo.
