Wolf Creek was a pretty good movie, or so I like to think. But as my Australian friend would say I'm currently 'sinking back some piss at the pub mate'. So my opinions might currently be awful.

I only cook chips once in a blue moon, but I love me some chicken salt. Pity the only brands they sell near me are dogshit. Also, I had no idea Sia was Australian.

Castle, Dundee, Pracilla, Mad Max are all fine, but anything really really good? edit; little monsters was really good/funny. WC2 got a little silly but it was much more entertaining. Kinda like the TV series. S1 was long and brooding, S2 was brutal.

A movie filmed in Australia doesn't make it Australian. Otherwise Matrix would be Australian.

If we're doing TV series' that are very Australian. I always liked the Jack Irish mini series'. They were very very inner suburban Melbourne. Good Guys Bad Guys was also another aggressively inner suburban Melbourne series, but it leant on the comedy a lot more than Jack Irish, which, whilst it does have its funny moments, gets dark at times.

AmbassadorofSodomy posted:I could probably just google this poo poo but gently caress it. It was an ad campaign to capitalise on the popularity of Crocodile Dundee and get the pieces of poo poo caught in the arse hairs of humanity we call "Americans" to come visit Australia. Most Australians wouldn't even have known that prawns were called 'shrimp' if it wasn't for that ad campaign.

I dunno if it's a subconcious thing but I've never seen prawns at a barbie. Maybe a prawn cocktail on the side because boomers are present, but never prawns literally on the barbie.

Kharnifex posted:burning roaches and shrimp smell the same I worked at a country servo as a kid and, during spring, we'd get swarms of beetles attracted to the lights around the pumps. They didn't have airtight covers, so the beetles would swarm inside the light fittings and get cooked by the bulbs. Sometimes you could see beetle smoke coming out the top of the lights. I will never forget the smell. BBQ shrimp has the same smell. Like someone set fire to a fingernail.

Used to get the same type of thing camping as a young fella when you'd get crickets jumping into the frying pans or onto the grill for some reason.
