Wonder how many of those flavorless reviews had covid and were (safely) symptomatically spreading a plague at the lovely bougie bbq joint.

Assuming this is a rural shop it's usually the choice between cannibalizing anything that broke down or was thrown out nearby or losing 3 days to go into the city and spend 12 months wages on the new article. I can't tell how much time is passing but if you can make a $150 battery out of junk you have lying around that's usually a big win when your wages are like $15 a month, plus whatever the opportunity cost balances to get something imported from the city vs doing it yourself.

These mechanics are wizards, and also routinely maimed. :eyepop: at the sandal vice.

At the end of the video (15:35) it says

"One day I make three batteries.
A battery repairing cost is $30.
Three hours a battery repairing time.
A battery works easily two years."

So he earns $10 per hour while Pakistani median wage is by internet $3.5, not counting cost of other materials, tools, electricity, taxes etc. but it would seem like a good profit. And if it works then $30 is maybe not a steal but buying a brand new battery is a big investment for a poor rural trucker. Better use the saved money on garish decorations on your truck.

Our main bathroom has what is basically a closet for the toilet. In that closet was a blank face GFCI outlet. I asked an electrician that was here doing other work about it and he said it's providing GFCI for the circuit the jacuzzi tub is on (which we'll likely never use).

Since the wife would really like a bidet seat, I figured why not change it to an actual outlet. Yesterday, I flipped the breaker off and got to work. When I got the blank face off, I found this:

It's tough to see but there is a three-prong plugged into that receptacle which undoubtedly is for the tub.

This is not typical, right? I'm not crazy in going WTF when I saw it, right?

Please don't forget that I am an extremely racist idiot who also has terrible opinions about the Culture series.

quote:

The issue is causing mounting concern as a number of electric-vehicle makers have warned owners not to leave the cars charging unattended in certain circumstances, or sitting fully charged in garages.

Automakers including General Motors, Audi and Hyundai have recalled electric vehicles over fire risks in recent years and have warned of the associated dangers.

Chevrolet last year advised owners not to charge their vehicles overnight or keep their fully charged vehicles in garages.

Perhaps, just perhaps, this technology is not quite ready to replace conventional automobiles.

And bonded ground and neutral and compromised the box by cutting the back of it out so they could fit the drat backwards receptacle in there behind the blank face GFCI and yeah it's a massive danger to everyone.

On the other side of the coin John Mull's Meats/Road Kill Grill here in in Las Vegas was on Fieri's show and is the opposite. It's is a tiny rear end cinderblock house on a ranch style property in the middle of a residential housing district, has zero indoor seats but has amazing BBQ with usually a 30 minute line at opening. it's fantastic. Nothing but a cafeteria line attached to a butcher shop.

The first time you try to find it you think the directions have to be wrong because there isn't another business within a quarter mile and it's literally on a 2 land residential street. It's been there since before the neighborhood existed. Entire neighborhood smells like BBQ.

The OSHA is probably the entire neighborhood's cholesterol.

My carnie story is that a few years back I was working a music festival and backstage I pitched my tent up next to the teenagers who ran the waltzers. Let me tell you - the wage those boys earned was nothing compared to the spare change, jewellery, and mobile phones they used to scavenge off the ride.

They would spend all day flirting with girls on the ride and then every night come back from the shift with duffel bags full of poo poo to pawn and shopping bags full of pound coins and notes. Their game was to spend the summer working every hour they could and then gently caress off to Spain or somewhere sunny over winter to spend it all. When they ran out of cash they'd come back to work.

Not classy boys, but they lived like king pigs in royal poo poo.

I love that the google reviews for the Thumb have a lot of one stars for people who "cant wear a mask" due to medical conditons "yet have to eat at the Thumb" during a pandemic were asked to wear a mask.
In Scottsdale no less! I'd expect they'd upcharge mask usage.

Google reviews, no matter how bad the reviews seem to have a system that bombs the bad reviews into oblivion with bought reviews or bot reviews or whatnot.
