https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afwO_MZjRjA I just discovered Pakistani Truck Channel. It's a mix of amazing ingenuity and OSHA nightmares. Today we watch them rebuild a truck battery. Molten lead, no eye pro, sandals... its got it all.

hellotoothpaste posted:How much money is being saved here, what the gently caress At the end of the video (15:35) it says "One day I make three batteries. A battery repairing cost is $30. Three hours a battery repairing time. A battery works easily two years." So he earns $10 per hour while Pakistani median wage is by internet $3.5, not counting cost of other materials, tools, electricity, taxes etc. but it would seem like a good profit. And if it works then $30 is maybe not a steal but buying a brand new battery is a big investment for a poor rural trucker. Better use the saved money on garish decorations on your truck.

My wife's family are carnies and she absolutely will not let anyone she likes go on funfair rides. Her half brother is literally a half-brother since he got his legs caught in one of the rides. She used to spend her summer holidays at fairs doing tarot readings and got a very good reputation even though she was just making poo poo up based on body language, appearance, accent and all the rest of it.

To be clear here, they installed the outlet inside out and plugged the tub into it inside the wall?

PinheadSlim posted:It was The Thumb/Tom's Thumb in Arizona. Do not go there, ever, for any reason. On the other side of the coin John Mull's Meats/Road Kill Grill here in in Las Vegas was on Fieri's show and is the opposite. It's is a tiny rear end cinderblock house on a ranch style property in the middle of a residential housing district, has zero indoor seats but has amazing BBQ with usually a 30 minute line at opening. it's fantastic. Nothing but a cafeteria line attached to a butcher shop. The first time you try to find it you think the directions have to be wrong because there isn't another business within a quarter mile and it's literally on a 2 land residential street. It's been there since before the neighborhood existed. Entire neighborhood smells like BBQ. The OSHA is probably the entire neighborhood's cholesterol.

My carnie story is that a few years back I was working a music festival and backstage I pitched my tent up next to the teenagers who ran the waltzers. Let me tell you - the wage those boys earned was nothing compared to the spare change, jewellery, and mobile phones they used to scavenge off the ride. They would spend all day flirting with girls on the ride and then every night come back from the shift with duffel bags full of poo poo to pawn and shopping bags full of pound coins and notes. Their game was to spend the summer working every hour they could and then gently caress off to Spain or somewhere sunny over winter to spend it all. When they ran out of cash they'd come back to work. Not classy boys, but they lived like king pigs in royal poo poo.

I love that the google reviews for the Thumb have a lot of one stars for people who "cant wear a mask" due to medical conditons "yet have to eat at the Thumb" during a pandemic were asked to wear a mask. In Scottsdale no less! I'd expect they'd upcharge mask usage. Google reviews, no matter how bad the reviews seem to have a system that bombs the bad reviews into oblivion with bought reviews or bot reviews or whatnot.
