Kirk Cousins is a stupid gently caress who is also bad at football

https://zonecoverage.com/2021/minnesota-vikings-news/mike-zimmer-reveals-kirk-cousins-doesnt-believe-in-protocols/

quote:

After Tuesday’s practice Zimmer joined KFAN‘s Dan Barreiro for an on air conversation. Barreiro, who is known for rarely sticking to sports, kicked the conversation off with two off-field topics. After discussing the inevitable Jeff Gladney release, Barreiro veered into the world Zimmer has spent the last few days living in to find out how the coach feels about being seemingly knighted as a pseudo league vaccination advocate. Much of what Zimmer espoused had already been mentioned during post-practice interviews earlier this week.

But then Zimmer dropped an incredibly interesting nugget.

Barreiro asked:

Have you had any conversations directly just with Kirk On this thing?

To which a somewhat exasperated Zimmer replied:

Not really, I haven’t talked to him not about whether he should or shouldn’t get vaccinated I’ve talked to him about some of the protocols which he doesn’t believe in

Zimmer went on to say his response to that is Kirk should be talking to the league’s and his own doctors, but “doesn’t believe in” could be a big deal.

To this point Kirk Cousins has been completely reluctant to discuss his thoughts on the vaccines or his personal vaccine situation, but going into last week we don’t need to ring up Sherlock Holmes to figure out Kirk was not interested. As we all heard last year: if he dies, he dies right?

I have no love for Urban Meyer or the Jaguars but if you're making an opinion based on a PFT headline that says more about you than them.

90% of PFT content is stupid clickbait headlines deliberately divorced from the actual content of the article.

AndrewP
Apr 21, 2010

I read it on ESPN, the same place PFT got it.

I think Jacksonville probably has an inordinate amount of very mediocre guys on the bubble, so maybe this is as good a way as any to figure out who should stay and go.

On the other hand:

quote:

"Just over the course of my career, I can give you example after example [of players who] maybe they're a little slow, but they just never lose."

so that's not real promising

A sack on third down isn't that valuable. The most valuable sack is on second down and second most is on first down. This is assuming all are 10 yards to go and doesn't include 4th down. Just a random thought I had while birding today.

A sack on third down kills 99% of drives.

A sack on 1st or 2nd down does not.

Urban Meyer is such a slow motion disaster and it's making me cheer against a lot of people I don't want to cheer against.

Well, and Tim Tebow now that I have the opportunity to cheer against him again, but that's also on Urban.
I don’t really see the problem with this, it’s just a practice performance metric.

Urban specifically mentioned he's going to reward slow players who "don't lose" so I think the metric is more likely to help ol' Timmy

And again you miss the point! Look at the chart that was posted that proves my point. A second and long(6+ yards per the chart) is stronger than a 3rd and long sack.

Tebow hasn’t actually looked that slow, his concern is his blocking ability and not catching balls with his chest

On 2nd down and 6+ forcing a third and long is a hard down for offense to deal with. First downs not as bad cause you have an extra down just to improve your position. When only third down is left thats it you make it or youre punting or kicking. And that can lead to more trouble like forced throws and turnovers.

Thought exercise: If Tebow ends up missing a block that gets Trevor injured, would Urban still be the coach the following Monday?
