On the moon... they don't make Neo Kobe Pizza.

God that looks gorgeous. I'm mad that I didn't play Obra Dinn until well after pre-orders ended for that edition.

Meanwhile they lost my copy of the NMH1&2 set and now I have to wait for a new one... :sigh:

That looks really cool. I wish I was into that game. It had the same issue that the show The Terror had. A period piece looking into life aboard a ship but then it turns into a bunch of magical weird poo poo that I'm not interested in.

For a little background on the ranking thing, details here, or tl;dr: it's a cumulative thing that requires consistently super good play to work up to that level, then maintain it, before you even get to the exam run, which itself has ridiculous requirements to get GM.

edit: Gang Beasts! Sounds like maybe cross play later on?

My disdain for you all knows no bounds.
Yeah it's not a simple score thing either. You have to be consistently masterful at it (Basically playing perfectly, you can't just survive all the way to the end, that alone isn't enough), and it randomly springs the exam on you if you're good enough in your last recent sessions. Tetris Grand Master is a very ridiculous series of games in how demanding it is.

I dunno how many TGM 3 Grand Masters there are now, but at the time that video was made, there were only 6 of them. 5 Japanese, and he was the first English player to achieve that grade.

There was actually a TGM 4 beta at some point many years ago, and none of the players present (Kev was there) could even reach whatever was being teased by the devs as the new gimmick. I can't remember much about it, I think there was mist that obscured blocks at 800 lines?

You should watch some grandmaster speed runs. That video is what I'd call 'pretty good at tetris' but by no means nuts.

obra dinn was very cool but it would have been cooler without that stuff. it would have taken a brave developer to see that through though, gamer lizard brains need a certain kind of fuel. btw if you disagree you have twice as much anhedonia as me.

Into The Breach also has 3 PCs and a tiny map area but kicks rear end, so I'm hopeful

Forgot about this and it's very true. I guess it'll be strange though because Metal Slug is about mowing down mooks, but balancing 3 over powered characters in a crowed map will be tough. Still, time will tell.

I guess looking forward to 3 games doesn't make it a dud, like I said previously: Metal Slug Tactics, TOEM (if this as good as A Short Hike I'm in or hell has that price point, I'm in), and Tetris Effect. But the first is coming out in a long time and the last is well... another tetris game, so it's not vital or anything. Previous Nindies always had something that got me real excited from Outer Wilds to Obra Dinn but here, eh.

Lol you doofus a good amount of the impact of obra dinn comes from the steady reveals of the truly awful poo poo that befalls the crew and their desperate attempts to fend off the supernatural terrors haunting them are the main cause of the crew losing their poo poo and turning on each other, giving us all of the deaths and intrigue the player investigates

These are all fair if unfortunate remarks.

It's an amazing experience through and through though, and while I would've enjoyed it just as much if it were like Foul Fowl wanted, I was really thrown by the twist. Obra Dinn is perfect also for people who don't usually like games.

I understand, and it sucks too because looking up hints or spoilers really rob the game of its value. I'm sure it's fine 2nd hand, but you really want to be the one solving things.

Theres a spectrum of puzzle game dryess that goes from like Picross S to Portal 2, ie. Very plain and wholely mechanically focused through to very well presented and focus tested to make you feel smart.

Obra Dinn sits on the dry end, even the story feels more there to serve the puzzles. I didn't get any satisfaction from the full ending beyond the immense satisfaction of solving all the puzzles.

If you want a puzzle game that respects you, a puzzle game thats not going to spell things out with witty character banter if you're stuck for ten mins then the Obra Dinn is for you.

I also recomend The Witness and Baba is You as other Puzzle games that absolutely do not gently caress around.
