All the equipment the taliban is claiming is designed to be used for like three hours before needing all new equipment to keep from blowing up.

Those humvees will be worthless without some enlisted air tire pressure specialist with the six tools needed to remove the proprietary screws to replace the tires that are assembled between six plants in eight different states.

1) that was from when the US could actually build complex planes and b) part of Iran-Contra involved getting them spare parts for their airforce.

I don’t see why they wouldn’t have the training to handle the equipment since they were trained by the us and I’m sure once the taliban has Kabul America will start selling them all the parts they need.

is the taliban - us agreement trump created still in effect? I feel like that’s been completely memory holed - was it shredded?

The Iraqi military almost folded during the first stage of the ISIS blitzkrieg

It was only due to forces on the ground with actual stones like the Kurd Peshmerga and Iran that things got turned around. .

It appears that they ended up being used like airbourne radar stations more than the role that they were designed for, but it’s still an impressive achievement.

I imagine the ugandan contractors at least have been taken out

Also i just want to throw this here as a prediction: we're going to learn eventually that the biden admin was ordering withdraw since the second he got in office, and the various interested powers have just been ignoring/delaying the orders thinking there's no way he'd finally do it as long as they had so much stuff/people there.

We already know basically the entire MiC was lying to trump's face about afghanistan because they knew he was too stupid/lazy to learn anything different about it.

the coordinated media push back against this from all sides is a little too obvious

The UK don't want anyone anymore whose a shade darker than weak milky tea.
Take the Gurhkas, fought for the UK army in WW2, given a UK pension LESS than what the army gives dogs in its service.
No joke, some are hunger striking outside of Downing Street right now, and no one gives a flying gently caress.

I mean, to be honest the Taliban have shown incredible mercy and political savvy and caused far less civilian casualties (so far, lets see what the reprisals are like when they solidify power) than america ever did lol. The fact that they managed to get 95% of afghanistan back in their hands through political maneuvering and convincing local tribes is an insane triumph.

So far I'm only aware of two groups that have been shown no mercy so far.

1. That one milita who reportedly desecrated the dead bodies of Taliban fighters and were promptly executed when captured.

2. The Islamic State.

The Taliban almost certainly took a bunch of repair facilities along with the bases they took over. If the ANA could keep at least some of its vehicles running, so can the Taliban.

Also, the US military isn't going to be flying air strikes from Qatar or wherever to take out a Humvee.
