It's also an extremely cis person thing to think "The Surgery" is like the #1 quintessential aspect of transition, and that GRS and transitioning are one and the same. So there's a good chance Hadi there is saying a divorce was caused by "gender reassignment surgery" when he really means it was caused by the person coming out as trans in general.

I could see someone thinking they're okay staying together during social parts of transition, and then turns out they just aren't attracted to the physical changes, whether it be top or bottom surgery, or the effects of hormones. Someone can mentally think "Sure, I'm okay with this" and then whoops nope turns out just entirely physically not into that. The tweet doesn't get the benefit of the doubt, but I really absolutely could see it happening. Sexual attraction is an important part of relationships to many people, and they can't change their own sexuality just because their partner transitions.
