Maybe.

Who knows

If Fields looks as good as he did on Saturday in the remaining games and Dalton looks as ineffectual probably.

Given the state of our O-Line at the moment, letting Dalton get murdered by Donald and the Ram's D instead of Fields makes sense. Now week two against the Bengals? That may be a different story.

Justin Fields makes way more sense to start against the rams than Dalton.

Fields can move and operate outside the pocket Which makes Donald's rush up the middle slightly less effective.

Ah yes, the team that went 8-8 last year and were second in the division, not going to be winning much.

They finished 7th in the NFC, and 14th overall. 8-8 is certainly not great, but they were better than 56% of the league. So essentially what, 60% of the league isn't winning much in your view?

Nagy took the Bears to the playoffs twice in three years with Mitch as his QB. Fields is better than Mitch. Dalton is better than Foles. Foles is the best third string QB in the NFL. The Bears are also getting back some good players from injury and COVID sit outs.

The Bears should be a better team this year, especially at quarterback. Will they be better enough to get into the playoffs without the seven seed loophole like last year, and more importantly, will they be better enough to win a loving playoff game for once? Dunno. We'll have to see. So much of NFL success depends on who gets hurt on your team and who stays healthy...just ask the 2020 '49ers what a rash of injuries can do to you.

So IF the Bears stay mostly healthy, and IF Fields develops the way we hope he will, and IF the defense under Desai can recreate the magic it had under Fangio, THEN the Bears should be good enough to compete with the Pack and the Vikes for the NFC North crown at best and should be able to grab a Wild Card spot at worst. But if one of the three legs of that stool doesn't hold up, the whole thing comes crashing down and the Bears could be in for a tough season, especially since they have the toughest schedule in the NFL in 2021 based on opponent's win rate in 2020. Which would be a shame, but not the end of the world, because the beauty of Justin Fields on his rookie contract is that you have five years (we're going to pick up the fifth year option on him, almost certainly) of a quality QB on the cheap. Almost no one wins the Superbowl as a rookie QB. But in his second, third, fourth, or fifth years? Well, THAT'S when things get very interesting indeed.

Trying to predict the Bears success or failure is an exercise in futility, both long term and game to game

All I know is the bears will lose the game after their BYE, and will win if they’re playing the packers in prime time and Noted Shithead Mike Dikta is the only person on the pregame show to pick them to win
